If you find yourself struggling, feeling overwhelmed or experiencing painful emotions in your everyday life or perhaps experiencing triggers from past trauma, I work with people like you, who sometimes get stuck in a cycle of self-defeating behavior in your personal life and relationships. Together we can address your needs of improving your quality of life such as helping you manage stress and anxiety. We would start by creating a collaborative relationship. I facilitate this by doing my best to create a comfortable space where you can share not only your issues, but one that helps shape your ideas for growth and change

Substance use issues usually mask real life problems and mental health challenges. Support varies per person - no one size fits all and there is never a quick mend. I believe in meeting you and your family where you're at, and creatively working together toward long-term solutions in achieving a healthy personal and family life.

Are your children displaying challenges with emotions, relating to others or adjusting to their school environment? I primarily work with children and teens with an emphasis on Autism, development delays, ADHD and anxiety and the impact on daily functioning and fully enjoying life. I’ve also seen how important a sense of security and belonging is for optimal growth and development. Unfortunately, difficulty regulating emotions, impulsive behaviors and other mental health concerns, can negatively affect the way we interact with others, causing difficulties in building those relationships we need to thrive.

I am passionate about helping individuals heal and feel empowered to look at their lives with clearer lenses. My approach in therapy is based on a research-based perspective that the brain is constantly trying to heal itself. The beautiful thing about our brain is that there is hope for healing--- even if we go through inevitable difficulties in our lives, we can indeed recover but sometimes we need a little bit of help to move forward. I am here to help you with your journey of healing and growing as a person.

You’re not sure when it happened, but you woke up one day and didn’t recognize the person in bed next to you. It’s heartbreaking that this might be the end of your dreams together. It started after the kids were born. You started noticing little ways you weren’t compatible. They’d misunderstand your jokes, and small things like socks on the floor began to irk you. Now there’s a disconnect between you that seems impossible to cross. You feel lost and unknown, lonely even when you’re together, especially when you’re together. You long to be seen by the person you fell in love with, but it feels like you speak different languages.

I have always believed that to have a fulfilling life, with healthy relationships, we must first love ourselves and find fulfillment within. I work with couples as well as individuals to communicate more effectively, converse from an emotional stance, build stronger relationships, and work through anxiety, depression, and trauma. Whether you are an individual struggling with a break up and your new reality, a couple who has grown apart or struggling with your communication and conflict resolution, or just realizing you need a safe space to share your experiences, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you.

I'm from Puerto Rico where I became and developed as a professional counselor specializing in mental health and wellness. Then I made the difficult decision to immigrate to the USA to serve to Latinx community; especially the Spanish speakers that, like me, left their countries looking for a better life for themselves and their families. As a Latina therapist, I know how hard it is to grow up in a culture that we love and respect but have aspects that could hurt us as individuals. I know how difficult it is to overcome the social and cultural challenges and make decisions to heal and live the life that we deserve.

My career in social services has given me the rare opportunity and privilege to accompany others throughout much of life’s journey--from the miracle of birth, as an adoption advocate to helping senior populations and their families as a counsellor managing long term care and end of life issues. One of the universal truths that I have learned is that struggle and adversity is an inescapable part of the human experience. Rather than let these challenges destroy you, my role is to help you on your journey to grow and work through the hardships of life and become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself.

I cannot fix you, because you are not broken! Sometimes when we are repeating the same destructive cycles and patterns of unhealthy behaviors, it can feel like a "broken" record, but you're not. You are stuck in a pattern of learned behaviors, which is not conducive to your overall health. I can help you identify those patterns by rewiring the brain and instilling healthier habits. I have worked with the Seriously Mentally Ill to General Mental Health.

How can I find a therapist in 85204?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
