I've always been taught that the therapeutic relationship is the most important element in a client's success. And it's proven to be true. I believe that the therapist-client relationship works best when the client feels comfortable with the therapist and is able to be honest about their needs. Therefore, I try to make the therapy space feel comfortable and judgement free. As you and I build the therapeutic relationship, I listen to your needs to provide you the best care possible. Let's work as a team to help you learn to thrive.

Hi there, I’m Astrid. I’m a Mexican cisgender woman, therapist, former community organizer, and proud dog mom to two very snuggly pups. I’m here to offer a space where you can show up exactly as you are: tender, tangled, hilarious, exhausted, curious, messy, brilliant—whatever’s real for you. I support individuals and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I’ve had the honor of working with survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence, offering bilingual therapy through a trauma-informed and empowerment-based lens.

I'm a trauma therapist, with a specialty in working with scam victims. When a person realizes this has happened there is usually an overwhelming amount of shame. You are shocked to realize this crime has occurred. If this has happened to you, I understand how awful it is and I can help. I understand about the emotional impact, and also about how you may have been blamed in obvious and in subtle ways. Reporting this crime is so important, and yet it can also be re-victimizing.

Welcome! I am so excited that you have decided to take your first step towards healing. My career in mental health started by working with young children, which gave me a beautiful window in to how early experiences can impact us and the way we view the world. I work from a trauma-informed perspective in the broadest sense. Trauma is not just the big, obvious events that happen to us. It is also the small, but pervasive, experiences that teach us about who we are, where we belong, and what we deserve. The ways that we cope with these experiences often become our default settings, which may or may not continue to serve us.

Thank you for starting your journey with me. I have been a therapist for 12 years, returning to school in my 40’s to fulfill a lifelong dream of helping others, like you, lead their best life. I believe in mending one soul at a time. Our world has been through a lot and now, here we are again trying to readjust. I am extremely thankful that more people are talking openly about mental health and helping to reduce the stigma. I firmly believe in order for someone to get the most from therapy, there must be mutual trust and openness between the client and therapist. My job is to meet you where you are and walk

My treatment philosophy is based on our capacity to heal. My primary means of treatment is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR reprocesses traumatic memories. Our brains use thought patterns to bring ideas, feelings and sensations to the forefront without discrimination. In instances of unresolved trauma, our ability to move forward in our lives is blocked, because thought patterns allow past trauma to continue to be replayed as if happening in the present. I collaborate with my clients via EMDR to reprocess trauma, allowing the brain to let natural healing occur.

Crises and life transitions tend to spotlight where we need to grow. I have two typical clients. One is interested in ongoing psychotherapy and has often (though not necessarily) been in therapy before. The other is looking for shorter-term work to sort through a decision or transition. Depression, anxiety, "stuckness" or "emptiness" often inspire people to call. I work with adults of all backgrounds, but have niche experience with many chronic illnesses, including long COVID, MCAS, EDS and cancer; neurodiversity-affirming work with autism & ADHD; older adults & aging; and healthcare & mental health professionals.

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 21 years licensed in both Arizona and Colorado. I have worked with a wide variety of clients including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, trauma, grief, suicide prevention, and substance use. My therapy style is optimistic and supportive. I believe in treating everyone with reverence, kindness, and empathy. I think it is extremely important not to place individuals into any category or disparage with labels. My approach combines solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavioral therapy.

Often when we imagine the process of pregnancy and having a baby, we picture moments of happiness and joy. But pregnancy, birth, and parenting are like the rest of life. There is often joy, but there can be tough times too. Sometimes pregnancy and postparttum depression, anxiety and self-doubt become overwhelming. The unexpected happens, things don't go as planned, relationships change, or grief and loss occurs. If you are having concerns about becoming pregnant, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, pregnancy loss, or being a new parent, you are not alone. Please know it's not your fault, you can get help, and you can feel better.

I have experience working with a diverse clientele, but have specialized recently in working with neurodivergent children and young adults. When working with neurodiverse clients my goal is to assist each individual in managing the challenges and transitions unique to being a divergent thinker navigating a neurotypical world. While I have worked with people of all ages, I am passionate about working with youth at pivotal moments such as early childhood or adolescence/young adulthood. Transitions to school or to adulthood present opportunities to work through emotions and establish new patterns that can lead to increased success.

Please note that I am not accepting any new clients. Sometimes life doesn't go the way we thought or planned. Maybe it's your career, relationships, loss of a friend or loved one, parenting or all of the above. We have so many struggles and mountains to climb in life but you don't always have to go through those alone.
