Hello! My name is Ashlee and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am from Colorado but have recently moved to Arizona to get my Ph.D in Counselor Education at the University of Arizona. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including family systems issues, depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-harm, relationship issues, and more. My niche is women of color processing racial trauma, workplace micro aggressions, and struggles navigating being a person of color living in a predominantly homogenous community. The weight that BIPOC folks feel is often too heavy to lift alone. Having a therapist who looks like you, and understands your cultural lens, is paramount to partnering with you to achieve wellness and recovery. Racial trauma looks like subtle slights + stress from internalized pain of tolerating intolerable systemic stressors based in a toxic culture.

My view of the psychoanalytic process encompasses the developmental nature of our life - of our present and past experiences. Through our communication, we work toward the discovery of one’s independence, creativity, and individuality - that is, becoming a person. The goal with children and with adolescents is to restore them to the path of normal development. A developmental approach is utilized in assessment and planning. The therapeutic time may include play, talk, and meeting with parents. Parental involvement is crucial to the outcome of the endeavor.

I chose to become a therapist after doing social work with children and families. Witnessing the trauma and the way that trauma impacted those individual lives caused me to develop an interest in and concern for individuals struggling with CPTSD, PTSD and childhood trauma.
