I get excited about working with my clients - getting to know you is the BEST part of what I do. And I totally understand what a leap of courage it can be to go to therapy. I'd love to hear what you have already tried, why it hasn't worked (or if it has, too), and what seems to be blocking your path. These are very helpful clues in our path of discovery. From there, I have a tool bag we can draw from, and with your feedback, we'll find something that works. :) Your feedback is the key!

Youth and young adults struggle more with anxiety, depression, suicide ideation, and trauma more today than ever before. Why do we have to wait until our kids are suicidal, shutting down, have addictions or even criminal behavior before we get them help. Everyone wants to grow up and live a happy and successful life and now with over half of our young adults failing to launch in life, we've got to do more for them.

Women experiencing depression, anxiety and trauma / PTSD can have a range of painful experiences. Day to day, chronic irritability can wear on your nerves and drive your stress level sky high. Are you are on-edge as soon as you start getting ready for the day, feeling sensitive, reactive or foggy even though the sun has barely come up? And when the day is done you want to relax but this is when your heart starts to pound in your chest. None of your coping skills seem to help enough, if you can muster the strength and time to use them. This is the reality of depression, anxiety and trauma.

I value creating an affirming, brave space with adults who have experienced chronic, complex stress and traumas, such as sexual and domestic abuse, religious trauma/LDS faith transitions, attachment and intergenerational trauma, and discrimination and oppression. The residues of these experiences can leave us stuck in perfectionism, people pleasing, depression, anxiety, and disconnection from ourselves and the world. I know the importance of finding a good fit with a therapist with whom you can feel both connected to and challenged by, who will respect you as a whole human, and who will bring a collaborative approach to therapy.

My focus always starts from the foundation of Attachment Focused Therapy. All issues are related to how we connect to ourselves, others and the world, and when there is a break in attachment or a lack of a secure attachment, difficulties arise that can impact every area of our life. I focus on helping individuals and families gain insight into their attachment styles and how to heal their attachment wounds and strengthen their positive relationships. I am also informed about Sensory Processing Disorder and its impact on attachment. I have been certified in EMDR since 2006 and have participated in many advanced EMDR trainings.

You are worth the investment! Some studies suggest that over 80% of all physical symptoms may have emotional or psychological roots. Sometimes anxiety and depression are just our body's way of letting us know a change is needed. If your relationships or life situations are causing you more distress than joy, therapy can help. We all experience pain, loss, and feelings of rejection. Although these feelings are normal, if neglected they can quickly become barriers to happiness and growth.

I believe that humans are not flawed and that we are all in this human experience together. I would like to help you with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-esteem, and other life-altering problems that keep you down and unable to achieve what you would like to accomplish.

As I finish my masters degree in marriage and family therapy I hope to strengthen and join those who are overwhelmed, stuck, or discouraged. My clinical development and training have led me to work primarily with families of teenagers and young children as well as couples who are seeking to repair or improve their relationships. I work from an experiential family therapy framework that specifically works to build family strengths and resiliency. This is also the foundation for emotionally focused therapy, an evidence-based approach for couple relationships.

Relationships can bring us tremendous joy, but they can also cause us pain when they aren’t going well. Using EFT and the Gottman Method I help couples in distress repair and rebuild their relationships, creating a deeper lasting connection. My goal for each session is to bring a warm positive style that invites collaboration so couples feel seen and heard. Whatever the challenge, a betrayal, ongoing feelings of disconnection, parenting issues, or other differences, couples can heal when they recognize what’s keeping them stuck and begin to change those negative patterns.

I believe that we are each shaped by the experiences and people we are surrounded by. I also believe that connection is an innate need for human beings of all ages and backgrounds. Feeling loved and understood is one way to fill that need. I understand the vulnerability it takes to be willing to sit with oneself in hard times, and more importantly, with a stranger to talk about difficult things, and I honor that process with each person I meet.

Struggling with chronic pain is devastating. It is exhausting and disheartening to continually look for answers and have those hopes crushed time and time again. Though it may seem too good to be true, Pain Reprocessing Therapy really can bring you relief. This works because pain is processed through warning signals sent to our brains. Pain can be extremely helpful when we’re actually in danger, but sometimes our brains get stuck in fear and learn to interpret safe sensations as dangerous. This causes our brains to send warning signals when there is no real threat.

NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! Feeling disconnected from or wounded by your partner is painful. Fighting and not communicating can feel hopeless about your relationship and that things will never change. Having a partner that cheated on you or is struggling with a porn addiction is painful and can break trust making you feel like you’re not enough. Being the one with an addiction is weighted with shame and criticism, along with guilt for hurting the one you love. Negative criticism and tearing yourself down leads to depression and feelings of worthlessness.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
