Each person is unique in their strengths and needs therefore therapy must be individualized. I believe that my role as a therapist, is to create an environment where one enjoys coming in to see me and can leave with a sense of hope for their future. My style is to be my genuine self, casual and comfortable, accepting of everyone along with all their thoughts and emotions. Therapy does not have to be intimidating or scary; it can be a positive and peaceful experience.
Prior to working in community mental health, I worked as a crisis social worker in a hospital and through community mental health. I also worked as a therapist on an inpatient mental health unit.
It is very important to me that everyone I work with feels accepted and cared for in therapy. I understand that reaching out can be difficult, especially if already feeling overwhelmed. I respond with compassion and kindness towards others, understanding that we all are dealing with difficult things in our lives.
