For most people, it is difficult to ask for help, so great job taking that first step already! The rest gets easier. I am here to help guide you through some of life's earthquakes. Whether it is trauma, grief, life-transitions, loss, abuse, neglect or your unique situation, I am solution and future-focused so that together we can create a future better than the past. I am compassionate, determined, and here for you, whether short-term or long-term. Healing goals are personal, and together we can determine what those might look like.

Navigating relationships is complex! I work with individuals, couples, and families who want to improve communication, manage conflict, express emotions more effectively, and strengthen their connections. Together we will consider the broader relational, environmental, and cultural contexts (past and present) that shape beliefs and patterns that negatively influence the dynamics within yourself and with others. Often these exist outside one’s awareness. Through greater understanding, compassion, and intentionality, we can shift those patterns in ways that foster personal and relational growth.

As your therapist, I am honored to be a part of your healing journey. In our working relationship I will offer a semi directive approach while using evidence-based interventions to help you feel validated and supported. I practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a Therapist in Training. I have found it to be a powerful tool to gently reprocess painful experiences in your brain and foster greater resilience. As a Level 1 trained in the Gottman Method for Couples, I believe in its research-backed tools that improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen connection between partners.

I am able to provide EMDR therapy as well as general counseling. Hello, my name is Bryan Lahti. Currently, I’m a clinical counseling student at Colorado Christian University in my second year of their program. I graduated from their undergraduate program with a degree in Applied Psychology. Originally from Virginia, I made my way to Idaho after graduating high school and completing some college before enlisting in the military for a little over 7 years. While I took a break between getting out of the military and continuing my education for counseling, I became a field service engineer working on machines that produce microchips.

Hello. I’m glad you're here. My goal is to help you realize your value and your strengths and to grow your identity in them. Often, we learn negative beliefs about ourselves and form self-narratives that can keep us in destructive relationship patterns or keep us from reaching for the things and relationships we yearn for. Also, very often, we are not even aware that we are being sabotaged by these negative beliefs and narratives. The first step is to become aware of them and deconstruct them, and then replace them with positive beliefs about your strengths and value as a person. I work mainly with individuals and some couples.

Something has to change! If this is your heart's cry, you are in the right place. No one is immune from troubles in this life. Are you hurting? overwhelmed? sad? Does the tape in your head crush your spirit with constant accusations? Are you grumpy, or just blah? If you are looking for someone to walk along-side you and help to identify and address messy emotions, negative thoughts, and problematic behaviors - I can help with that.

You might feel overwhelmed, constantly on edge, or exhausted from trying to hold everything together. Maybe your child or teen is shutting down, acting out, or struggling in ways you don’t fully understand. Whether you're a parent with a child who is struggling, an adolescent feeling stuck or an adult carrying years of stress or trauma, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

You might not have the exact words for it, or maybe you do, but something doesn’t feel quite right. You feel stuck, out of sync, and sometimes like a burden. Symptoms like anxiety, depression, or irritability show up when you don’t want them and start to take over. You’ve been through a lot, even if you don’t always call it trauma. And somewhere inside, there’s a part of you that’s ready for something to change.

I approach counseling from a holistic, attachment perspective, with training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (trauma intervention). Our experiences, positive or negative, affect the way we think, interact with emotion, and ultimately how we interact with ourselves and others. In this, there are two things to address: what has happened to us, and our present behaviors (how we interact with ourselves and others). I would love to walk alongside you with empathy, compassion, and honesty as we explore and work toward healing and aligning your behavior to your values.

“Colibri” is Latin for Hummingbird. Hummingbirds are thought to be healers and bringers of love, good luck, and joy. They have a remarkable amount of tenacity and endurance for such a small bird and are a reminder for us to live in the moment and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Joy can be unpredictable and may be just around the corner. I believe that true happiness and peace comes from authenticity, self-acceptance and finding your true self and identity.

My typical client is wanting to heal from trauma, get rid of annoying triggers, learn calming techniques and coping skills to lessen anxiety and manage stress, lessen depression, improve communication skills and increase interpersonal effectiveness, learn assertiveness, learn distress tolerance, learn skills to practice mindfulness, develop emotional regulation, manage moods, develop resiliency and feel better overall. I also work with couples to restore their relationship. I am a trauma informed counselor, understand how trauma affects all parts of a person's life and know healing can happen.

How can I find a therapist in 83605?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
