I go by Tony, and I would love to help you with your marriage and family struggles, your trauma and anxieties, your upsets and surprises, or just your pursuit of growth in life or stewardship. I have done everything from working with prisoners to consulting with entrepreneurs. I am a Christian in my own worldview, but I use the best evidence-based research to help my clients. I am currently completing a PhD in marriage and family therapy. Therapy is not just for broken people; it is for everyone who wants to grow. So, no matter where you are or what your background, it does not matter – there is help here for you.

I believe too many women are suffering in silence and isolation as they give of themselves but don't receive the same support in return. I consider myself to be both "eclectic" and "holistic" in my approach, meaning that I use different types of proven psychotherapies (like CBT, ACT, Mindfulness-Based therapies) to help with the health and wellness of the mind, body, and spirit. Together this means I know that one method doesn't work for everyone and that I find it important to look at the whole you. You will be getting a customized healing journey that you help create because I trust that you are the best expert on your life.

Have you experienced a stressful or traumatic experience that has left you feeling not like yourself? After these types of experiences, the most common thing people tell me is "I just wish I could go back to how it was before." You might be wrestling with painful memories, have difficulty connecting with others, and struggle to feel safe, both with the outside world and even yourself. These are all NORMAL reactions to difficult experiences but they do not have to be your forever. While we cannot undo the past, we can work to process and overcome these events in order to find and a path forward.

I became a therapist because I believe that every person is worthy of a life lived fully as themselves. For most of us, at some point, life experiences get in the way of feeling our best, but healing is possible when we have a safe place to process those experiences. I strive to be that safe place for every person who enters my office. I offer EMDR and specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, and depression, but also know that sometimes in life, we just feel a little off. Wherever you are in life's journey, I'd be honored to journey with you.

Are you feeling stuck, lost, or unsettled? Having difficulties in relationships? Sometimes it's hard to describe exactly "what's wrong" or what's missing in our lives, yet the hope for change, for healing, for "something" to be different persists, and rightly so. I utilize an evidence-based approach in therapy and tailor interventions to help you get what you need, to empower you to reach your goals, and to encourage you to hold onto what works in life and to let go of what doesn't.

Relationships are the foundation of our lives. Through the quality of our connections with those we care about, we can feel as though we are thriving or they can leave us feeling isolated and alone. Working to strengthen or rebuild connections with others and with ourselves is extremely important to creating a sense of support and acceptance. If our foundation feels secure and safe, we can then allow ourselves to thrive in other areas of our lives. I have special training in relational therapy and how to strengthen these "systems" and the influence they have on our lives.

Seeking therapy can be an intimidating experience. Hat’s off to you for starting the process! My strength is my practical approach to finding a means to change ways clients have been stuck in their lives. Often that means understanding how past hurts or trauma have influenced our current attitudes, beliefs and gut-level reactions. Other times it means working on changing what is happening in the present. I specialize in depression, anxiety, coping with stress, as well as treating those who have been victims of abuse, in childhood or adulthood. I also work with adoptive families. I am EMDR, level 2 trained.

I look forward to helping you with anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma, narcissistic abuse and the stress that life can throw at us! Sometimes, the story that we want to tell can be incredibly difficult to discuss or process. If you have anxiety, difficulty talking, or want to try something new, art therapy is perfect for you to come in and say as much or as little as you want and still receive the treatment and care you deserve. Many times, we struggle to find the words to describe certain emotions or events that have occurred. Art therapy can also help us discover things that we could not process only through talking.

Has traditional talk therapy not felt like "enough"? Do you find it difficult to put words together to describe your experiences? Have you found yourself stuck in patterns, situations, or relationships? The teens, couples, & adults that we see often struggle with managing difficult emotions, anxiety, dissociation, depression, and grief. They have often experienced painful things in the past that they have buried. We help your brain process these things and heal. One of the biggest benefits of therapy is having a safe place to share how you are really doing & feeling. A place to explore thoughts & feelings using clay, art, & horses.

It is my belief that as humans, we are wired for connection and community. Adverse life experiences can bring us to a place of isolation and addiction. One of the greatest experiences as a therapist is watching others overcome and grow through adversity, along with the resilience it takes to do so. Maybe you feel stuck in your issues or feel unsure of the next steps.. My purpose as a therapist is to create space for you to build the life you want and a self acceptance that highlights your innate worth.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
