I believe our unique relationships, beliefs and experiences shape who we are as individuals and provide the content for our personal stories. It is not uncommon to become stuck or feel hopeless; however, there is no one-size-fits-all solution to our unique challenges. Although you may be feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, exhausted, or plagued with worry, you have the ability and the inner resources to take the steps necessary to feel more fulfilled and at greater peace. I provide a space for my clients to tell their story while gaining insight and clarity for making the changes they want to make for healing and deeper connection.

Hi there! Thank you for your interest in my practice. I believe individuals who live life with purpose and meaning live vibrantly. Focusing on what is important can be hard to do when there is hurt or life has been turned upside down. My goal in therapy is to help you find hope, get stronger and live a healthier, happier life. Learning about yourself, to love and honor yourself and what you find most meaningful can feel really good. If you would like to explore the option of therapy, I would love to hear from you. Thank you.

"My life looks completely different than I thought it would, and I don't know what to do with that." "I feel like I should be over it by now, but I'm not." "I'm tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix." "My mind won't stop, and I'm exhausted from trying to keep up with it."
Whatever brought you here, you don't have to figure it out alone. Naming what's underneath the pain can be a relief in itself. From there, we can begin listening to what's in your heart — clarifying what you value and hope for — and working together toward the changes that bring healing, meaning, and joy.

Starting therapy can be scary, overwhelming, frustrating, and/or exhausting. There are so much options.. and if you're not a therapist yourself, many of the terms and specialties are new for you and probably don't mean anything yet. If you're not sure what exactly you're looking for, but know you want help and support, you're in the right place. I'll explain the process, walk through what next steps are and work with you along the way to answer questions and make sure what we are doing continues to feel supportive of your needs.

At times, the pressure to succeed in school, sports, or life can feel so intense it’s hard to breathe. It may seem like no one truly understands how overwhelming it is to keep up with constant expectations—whether placed on you by others or by yourself. Stress and anxiety might keep you awake at night, your mind stuck on repeat. Even when you keep pushing ahead, it can feel like the weight is slowly catching up to you. You don’t have to go through this by yourself. I enjoy working with athletes and with clients who are facing anxiety, depression, and trauma.

After many years in the public school system as a teacher and school counselor, I decided to leave the school system and joined a growing private practice specializing in OCD and anxiety. There, I offered therapy services and led specialized groups for two and a half years. Recently, I decided to expand my services to the Fort Collins area and launch my own practice, with locations in both Boulder and Fort Collins. I have created and led several therapy groups including a grief group for adults, a support group for adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and anxiety groups for all ages.

Struggling with sleep? Constantly feel tired but wired, or that your sleep is broken? Have you tried everything, from sleep hygiene to melatonin?
As a behavioral sleep therapist, I work with clients to improve sleep quality and quantity, helping them feel more rested and renewed. I use evidence-based interventions that are typically brief (6-8 sessions) and do not rely on medication.
In addition to poor sleep quality, I also work with clients to address frequent, distressing nightmares.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves or the life they want to be living. Anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, burnout, or painful past experiences can make it hard to move forward. I work with individuals across the lifespan and couples who want to build a more compassionate relationship with themselves and deeper emotional intimacy in their relationships. Therapy offers a space to make sense of your experiences so healing and meaningful change can begin. Adoption is especially meaningful to me, and I welcome those whose lives have been touched by it.

Connection to ourselves and others is essential to our mental health and well-being. Also, feeling like we’ve lost connection to ourselves or others (or both) at points in our lives is common. When this happens we may experience sadness, anxiety, grief, shame, and a range of other emotions. Our relationships may suffer and the cycle continues. Personally and professionally, I believe in the power of connection, relationships, and community. From this lens, I work with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, isolation, grief, shame, identity concerns, relationship difficulties, existential concerns, and men's issues.

Emotional education is something we were rarely taught. Without it, we can feel disconnected from ourselves, from the people who matter most, and from the world around us. We may find ourselves repeating patterns, struggling to express what we truly feel, or unsure how to create the kind of relationships and life we genuinely want.
At BEing There Counseling, we teach tangible emotional skills that help you better understand yourself, navigate your inner world with greater clarity, and build deeper, more meaningful connections.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
