Sometimes, despite all the self-reflection and effort, the relief you crave feels just out of reach. You’re committed to growth, but old patterns and doubts keep pulling you back. I work with adults navigating anxiety, self-doubt, trauma, and life transitions who are ready for a deeper shift. My approach is collaborative and non-pathologizing, helping you understand your inner system, soften old patterns, and build something more sustainable from within. If you’re exhausted from trying to “fix” yourself, this might be the space you’ve been looking for.

I specialize in building healthy relationships with your partner, children and family members. In life we develop negative coping skills in our family of origin that protect us in our youth but do not support us in forming healthy relationships in our present and future. I believe we can break these negative cycles through a combination of healing our past, increased awareness of our negative patterns and gaining tools to change these behaviors. I specifically work with adult children of alcoholics & addicts and family members currently faced with these challenges. I offer support, hope and empowerment during an extremely unmanageable time.

I help people understand themselves—their past, present, thoughts, behaviors, anxieties, burnout, & more—to do more than just cope. Common issues include perfectionism, people-pleasing, pressure to perform, fear of failure, guilt, shame, critical self-talk, difficulty relaxing, work/sport/life imbalance, sleep or nutrition struggles, complex relationships, identity shifts, injuries, the urge to always “do more,” and tying self-worth to achievements. If past therapy felt helpful but incomplete, I help uncover the deeper threads & missing pieces—so it finally makes sense & lasting change becomes possible.

I have been licensed as a therapist since 2013. Originally from Wisconsin I have lived in Steamboat Springs, Colorado since 2017. I focus primarily in treating addictions, anxiety, depression, OCD, sleep issues, sports performance improvement and trauma (PTSD). When people seek out a therapist they often fall into two categories. The first being those who are seeking therapy for the first time. The second are people who have been in therapy before who are seeking a therapist who can help them heal permanently from whatever issue they are dealing with. That is my goal, to help people heal permanently and move forward in their lives.

Do you feel like sometimes you are on 'autopilot' and continue to see the same negative patterns playing out in your life? These patterns may be leading you to feel disconnected from people and the world around you, having pessimistic beliefs about what the future holds, and feeling generally dissatisfied with life. What if we could take a deeper look at the foundational experiences of your life and begin to make sense of the inner workings of your psyche? With this knowledge, you will be able to turn what used to feel like fate into choice points and become to true author of your life.

I work with various client populations but have mostly worked with young adults who are seeking help with relationships, neurodivergence, grief, family dynamics, and life transitions. A lot of the detailed work that I do in sessions utilizes Attachment Theory, IFS, and CBT. In conceptualizing client cases I take a holistic, trauma informed approach that incorporates a person-centered and systems approach. I am also EMDR trained so I integrate that into sessions where it’s needed.

Hi, I'm a licensed therapist and equine-assisted emotional and mental health practioner located in Denver and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are wanting to improve their relationships, whether it's with their partner, family, friends, or their relationship with themselves. Many of my clients are unaware of how their attachment style or their emotional wounds from their past might be unintentionally sabotaging their relationships. I see some clients virtually for convenience, however, in person (with or without horses) is a lot more effective. Many choose a hybrid of both.

I assist children, adolescents and their families in the journey of self-awareness. Children and adolescents are masters at showing us, or telling us, what their perceptions of their internal and external worlds are like. During play therapy, children create play or adolescents tell stories, that resemble the difficult experiences they are struggling with. The play or the conversation, becomes focused on the purposes of emotional healing. This leads to a reduction of symptoms (i.e. acting out and aggressive behaviors, somatic complaints, withdrawal or regression, etc.) and the reestablishment of balance in the child's sense of well-being.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
