The coping strategies that helped you get to this point aren’t allowing you to live the life you want. While we are surviving, we start to miss out on life. We lose contact with others and ourselves. We go through the motions of daily life without experiencing connection or joy. We may feel hopeless, angry, exhausted, and ashamed.
The most challenging work of being in therapy is often the work that you will do outside of our time together, as this often requires a new way of moving through your world. You might have to examine some old patterns of surviving, shift relationships, set boundaries for yourself, prioritize your well-being. That rich work requires a lot of support.
My therapeutic lens integrates somatic interventions, mindfulness, and EMDR and is informed through a justice framework, allowing for exploration of the impact of oppression on individual identities and lived experiences.
