Are you your own worst critic? Maybe you spend a lot of time beating yourself up, asking questions like “What’s wrong with me?” I know because I’ve worked with so many other people with similar struggles, and as a veteran, I’ve experienced it myself. Such negative thoughts are normal when you’ve never learned to combat them. Unfortunately, they contribute to many issues such as depression and anxiety. They can even worsen symptoms from trauma. The good news is you can change your patterns of thinking. One of my favorite quotes from Marcus Aurelius is “The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.”

Relationships can be a source of our greatest joy and sometimes our greatest sorrows. Being in positive relationships with others, requires that you have a positive relationship with yourself. Maybe you're feeling depressed, anxious or angry and don’t understand why. Maybe you have negative beliefs about yourself or others that affect your decisions and relationships. Maybe you’ve felt disconnected or in conflict with your significant other, friends, or family. You may be finding yourself in a pattern of having the same conflicts over and over.

Motherhood is the most transformative life stage. You might find yourself constantly thinking, worried, exhausted and irritable with your children and your partner without understanding why. This time can bring about many different feelings - the highest of highs, the lowest of lows and intense pressure to be a great mom and provide your children a different experience than you had growing up. If you are struggling with any of these things, there is hope that you can find relief, be present in your life instead of in your head, and be the mom you want to be.

I believe that all individuals, couples and families are capable of working towards positive change. I respect and appreciate the unique nature of my clients' circumstances in life. As a therapist, I bring a very creative approach into the sessions. In the first session with clients, a unique plan of development begins to emerge.

It can be difficult to ask for help. Sometimes you're not sure if your situation necessarily qualifies for therapy. I believe it is okay to need support, to be vulnerable, or just want some time to reflect on what is going on for you. My role is to help my clients find this authentic place which ultimately leads to more comfort and peace. I consider it a privilege to have a client enter the office and be vulnerable enough to reach out for help.

We all have experiences in life that are beyond our ability to cope. Following such events, many people feel distress for weeks, months, or years after. Are you "stuck" with the thoughts and feelings brought about by one or more traumatic experiences? Have you noticed a change in your mood, relationships, or work-life following a traumatic event? If you're interested in taking steps to change your relationship to your trauma, then we may be a good fit.

Do you feel like you are at a crossroads or in a life transition? Perhaps you are feeling at your wit's end and suspect a change needs to happen and are not sure where to begin - or if you even want to. Life transitions can take many forms. Some examples include: changing careers, feeling you're in a quarter-life or mid-life crisis, moving, the loss of a close loved one, and the shift of a troubled relationship dynamic (with yourself, family, finances, your body, etc). The individuals I see are often high performers struggling with chronic stress and anxiety, a sneaky, loud inner critic, and a history that includes some trauma.

Are you the person others go to for support? Are you unsure of who you are outside of others? Do you feel uncomfortable asking for help? I work with clients who have had to push their needs aside (loved ones of those struggling with mental illness or substance use issues, people in the helping professions, caretakers, etc.) often manifesting in anxiety, depression, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and low self-esteem. Together we will work to identify your values, needs, and desires and chip away at unhelpful narratives stemming from early life to make space to re-write ones that align with your values and your most authentic self.
