How many times have you thought about going to counseling only to say to yourself"I'll be fine, there's nothing wrong with me, this will pass"? Me too, until it was obvious I wasn't fine, there was something wrong and it wasn't going to pass. It is a scary proposition to sit down with a complete stranger and tell them your innermost thoughts and emotions. I believe that most of us know where we are and where we want to be, but sometimes understanding what got us where we are and how we are going to get where we want to be are not so clear. I can help you get where you want to be. It isn't always easy, but it is worth it.

Do you feel weighed down by anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or relationship struggles? Caught in a cycle of over-functioning or people-pleasing? On the outside, maybe you appear to have it all together, but inside you feel stuck, exhausted, and unsure of yourself. Let me assure you— it’s not “all in your head.” The truth is unresolved past experiences, internal scripts shaping how you act, major life transitions, and the constant pressure to “be enough” can keep your nervous system on high alert, leaving you overwhelmed and disconnected from the life you long for.

I work best with children and adults who are feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Some families come in because a child is struggling with big emotions, behavior changes, or trauma that feel hard to understand. Some individuals reach out because they feel anxious, disconnected, exhausted, or caught in patterns that no longer serve them. In our work together, we slow things down and look beneath the surface. I help patients make sense of what their emotions, behaviors, and relationship patterns may be communicating. My goal is not to force quick fixes, but to create the safety, clarity, and momentum that help meaningful change happen.

I help people who feel overwhelmed and stuck in repeating emotional and relationship patterns, and who are often holding a lot together on the outside, slow down, understand the roots of those patterns, and create lasting change through self-compassion and relational repair. You are often the one that others rely on and, thus, may struggle with boundaries in your personal or professional lives. My base belief and understanding that each individual has undeniable and significant worth underlies my approach as a therapist. If you experience feelings of shame, self-doubt, or inadequacy, look no further.

You’re not in crisis, but you’re not at peace. You’re the one who keeps life moving while carrying what no one sees. You’re functioning, but not fulfilled. Successful, yet something feels off. You want a space that meets you at your depth, not your symptoms. I specialize in supporting high‑functioning, quietly struggling individuals who don’t fit the typical “therapy box.” If you’re ready for grounded, identity‑honoring, premium care, you’re in the right place.

If you’re reading this, it likely means that you’ve decided to seek therapy or are searching for a new counselor. The amount of love, care, and respect you’re showing yourself by doing so is something to be very proud of. Therapy can be nerve-racking because it might mean unpacking emotions that you’d really rather not. But addressing these things will allow you to benefit much more than you would by avoiding them. Whether you are wanting to learn more about yourself, heal from past trauma, grow as an individual, or anything in between, therapy is the place to do it!

You’re handling everything you need to on the outside, but internally it feels like too much. Maybe your mind doesn’t shut off. You feel constantly on edge, easily irritated, or overwhelmed. You might find yourself snapping at people, shutting down emotionally, or struggling to focus and slow your thoughts down. A lot of the people I work with are high-functioning, but feel stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break. Whether it’s anxiety, anger, ADHD-related challenges, or stress that keeps building, we work to understand what’s happening and change it.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
