As your therapist I have the privilege of being invited into your story. Curiously we will explore how you got here, where you want to go, and what is disrupting the progress of that story. Life can feel like a mess of colors, cluttered on a canvas. It's my job to help you to see and use those colors to produce the beautiful mosaic that it is, so you can live with greater freedom. I frequently see clients who are working through the anxieties of being a teenager, the struggles of emerging into adulthood, the issues of manhood in singleness, marriage, and parenting, and the traumas that disrupt emotional well-being.

Do you feel weighed down by anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or relationship struggles? Caught in a cycle of over-functioning or people-pleasing? On the outside, maybe you appear to have it all together, but inside you feel stuck, exhausted, and unsure of yourself. Let me assure you— it’s not “all in your head.” The truth is unresolved past experiences, internal scripts shaping how you act, major life transitions, and the constant pressure to “be enough” can keep your nervous system on high alert, leaving you overwhelmed and disconnected from the life you long for.

What are you looking for in a counselor? Someone who "gets it?" Someone who might have walked in your shoes? I too have faced adversity. I myself am "un-married"; a term I coined after my own divorce. I carried my mother through the dementia years and eventual death of my father. Most importantly to me, as a single mother, I led my children through my middle child's 3 years of ALL Leukemia cancer treatment. Life experience? Anxiety? Stress? I can check those boxes. What adversities are you facing? Don't feel you must walk alone.

Are you feeling overwhelmed with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings? I offer a specialized approach that focuses on helping clients develop psychological flexibility. Rather than trying to eliminate or suppress unwanted thoughts and emotions, we work together to accept them as a natural part of being human. I help my clients understand that struggling against their feelings can often intensify their distress. We will explore ways to be present with these emotions and thoughts without letting them dictate their actions. My primary goal is to guide clients in answering this question: "What do you want your life to stand for?"

They just don’t get it, nobody understands me. I don’t understand why relationships are so hard. My relationships dissolve before I know what’s actually happening. Between the meltdowns, explosions, and trying to connect with others, I’m just exhausted. Not knowing the why, how, or the what makes me feel anxious, weird, and uncomfortable. Meltdowns may happen at home, school, work, or socially when we can’t communicate our emotions, needs, and wants appropriately or effectively. Feeling unheard or misunderstood can cause anxiety, stress, and irritability.

Life is filled with things to worry about. Sometimes those worries come from trauma or within yourself. For adults this could be irritability, anxiety, or fear. For children & teens these worries could even present as behavioral issues or in-school disturbances. Developing confidence, self-esteem, and positive thinking habits can be the key to unlocking a better reality. I want to help you build this confidence & self-esteem; I want to equip you with the tools to create positive thinking habits, overcome trauma, and inevitably help you to use all of these skills to overcome your worries.

I love to work with people who are ready for change, even if they’re not sure what that looks like yet. They may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by grief, navigating a difficult transition, or struggling to make sense of painful experiences from the past. What they all share is a desire to feel more at peace — to understand themselves, to break free from old patterns, and to experience life with greater clarity and purpose. I am mainly interested in where you come from and then to work with you to discover where you are going.

You have tried many things and nothing seems to work. The same issues keep coming up and despite many attempts, you continue to respond in a way that you don’t want to. You struggle with feelings of unworthiness, inadequacy, helplessness, and hopelessness. These negative self referencing beliefs are holding you back. You need to achieve a sense of safety and self-worth after being hurt. It is courageous to extend compassion to yourself and learn to move through hardship in a way that does not hold you back from living a life of contentment and connection.

When I picture my ideal client, I think of you. You might feel stuck, anxious, unhappy, numb, or disconnected. Maybe you feel scared or ashamed of something that has happened to you or something you’ve never discussed with anyone. Perhaps you have thought about therapy before, or someone recommended it, but you never pursued it. But now, you show up and that is the first step. You are beginning to be honest with and trust yourself, me, and this process. You want to feel better, more connected, and begin to live your life again. I have good news: With a little courage, a willingness to try new things, and a little support, you can!
