As a helper, my work with clients is guided by the core belief of connection. 1) Connecting the past to the present to gain insight into our struggles, 2) Connecting meaning to our experiences and 3) Connecting with a safe and trusted person to provide support and guidance in our path to healing. My ideal client would be those that are of like mind and interested in connecting in a therapeutic relationship that is driven by the client's individual needs and life experiences.

I feel that it is an honor to be a part of their healing journey, in whatever form. I know that life can be challenging and I am not here to judge or guide you but rather walk alongside you and help bring light to parts that we struggle to process. I want to work towards building trust and mutual respect. I feel that it is important that the client is able to feel empowered when in the therapeutic space.

I love serving clients who are ready to take their first steps—for themselves. That might look like a woman who’s overwhelmed by parenting while trying to carry the weight of the world, someone battling the stories anxiety has etched into their mind, or a person ready to scream their truth but finding only a whisper escapes. I feel honored to meet you where you are, to sit with you, and to carry your story for a while as you move through your journey.

If you find yourself in a difficult place, let me be the first to say, you are not alone. We all have times in our lives when we need a voice of hope, a listening ear, and eyes to see beyond our current circumstances. Making the decision to seek support can be a humbling, yet extremely gratifying experience. What I hope to offer is a unique space where you can be yourself, learn about yourself, and more fully live into your true identity.

In our sessions, I take a holistic approach that honors the connection between mind, body, and spirit–whatever that may look like for you. Together, we’ll explore how your past experiences shape your present self, while staying grounded in what you're currently feeling and facing. By examining your thoughts, behaviors, and patterns, we’ll identify what’s serving you and what’s holding you back. From there, we’ll work collaboratively to create meaningful, actionable change that supports your growth and prepares you for the future.

Supervised by Ashton Fisher Jimenez, M.S. LPC-S (License 66488): I once heard a saying that eventually, the pain of staying stuck will outweigh the fear of moving forward. People often stay stuck because they’re not sure what to do next and are afraid to try something new—sometimes, even when it hurts, the familiarity just feels safer. But what if, with support, you could find a clearer path forward? People often struggle with the stressors of everyday life with limited resources and then blame themselves when their relationships, finances, or careers do not work out.

Hi, I’m Elizabeth! I’m a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor, and I truly believe that everyone has the strength to face life’s challenges, even when it doesn’t feel that way. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming like a puzzle that’s hard to piece together, but you don’t have to work through it alone. One of my favorite authors once wrote, “you do not yield,” I hold onto that as a reminder of the resilience we all carry, even in our toughest seasons. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you or your child can feel seen, heard, and supported. Together, we’ll take steps toward healing, hope, and lasting growth.

I am a therapist. Who ALSO has a therapist and has been through the process of finding/seeing therapists. I get it. It isn't easy but it is worth it. My view of counseling is simple, and based upon three core principles: authenticity, (being true to oneself), honesty, and growth. I seek to provide a nonjudgmental ear, and a supportive, safe presence. My goal is for you to feel heard as well as empowered by knowledge and skills to recognize your worth and embody change. I prefer working with adult clients who are ready and willing to put in work toward change and self-improvement.

A good marriage is hard work, but it's worth fighting for. Christian Counseling can help. Do you feel like your needs are being ignored? Are you exhausted by the fighting in your marriage? Do you wonder how your marriage got this way and know it could be better? Now more than ever, couples are faced with anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and a building temptation that destructive behaviors or divorce is the only hope for relief. At Luminous Christian Counseling, I stand on Jesus’ words in John 16:33 when he said “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”

Marriage and family therapy has been the focus of my training in my schooling and professional career. I use this approach (systems approach) to assist my individual, couple, and family clients. During my career I have had the opportunity to work at a hospital, school, and the court system, which all helped prepare me for private practice. I look forward to helping your family reach their goals in a holistic way.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
