Anxiety can be an encompassing experience, affecting not just your thoughts and emotions, but your physical well-being too. It often creates a pervasive sense of unease that can make day-to-day life feel more challenging. You’ll often feel out of control, simply reacting to the troubles around you. But you don’t have to live like this forever.

My ideal clients are children, teens, and members of the Deaf community who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, grief, trauma, or life transitions. I am also interested in supporting young women who may be experiencing anxiety, codependency, or difficulties in their relationships. Many may feel misunderstood or isolated, struggling to communicate their emotions or needs. They are seeking a safe, supportive space to process experiences, develop coping skills, build confidence, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen relationships while feeling seen, heard, and understood in a way that honors their unique journey.

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming. Like you’re carrying more than you can manage, even if from the outside everything looks fine. Expectations, responsibilities, old experiences that still linger, it adds up. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or as though you’re constantly just trying to stay afloat. If that’s where you are, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Are you exhausted from trying to hold everything together? Maybe your child’s meltdowns, explosive behaviors, anxiety, shutdowns, or emotional overwhelm are taking over your home — and nothing you’ve tried seems to help for long. Maybe you feel stuck cycling between guilt, frustration, walking on eggshells, and wondering if you’re somehow getting it wrong. Or maybe YOU are the one carrying years of anxiety, trauma, emotional exhaustion, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or survival mode while still showing up for everyone else. You are not too much. And you do not have to navigate this alone anymore.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or confused by their emotional reactions—often wondering why past therapy didn’t quite help. They may struggle with anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, emotional regulation, or family challenges. My clients want therapy to make sense, to feel safe, and to learn tools they can actually use in daily life. Together, we focus on understanding the brain and nervous system, building regulation, strengthening connection, and creating meaningful, lasting change.

Life can be more challenging than you expect, and sometimes you need help in moving forward. In those times, you need a counselor who understands you and can coach you in finding a healthy way to manage what life throws at you. A good therapist is like a fellow traveler who is able to help you make sense of life and relationships. In many life situations, a supportive counselor who understands how challenging life is can be a helpful part of your journey in a non-judgmental way.

I specialize in working with children and adolescents experiencing challenges related to anxiety, depression, anger, PTSD, and ADHD. I also have expertise in supporting children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Individuals under the age of 18 often face difficulties in forming and maintaining healthy relationships with both family members and peers. Childhood and adolescence can be particularly challenging developmental periods, and during this time, many young people benefit from additional guidance and a trusted professional with whom they can build a strong therapeutic rapport.

It takes significant strength to start looking for a counselor! I applaud starting the process... don't stop now. Reach out. I know that counseling can be uncomfortable, counselors can be awkward and efforts in the past may have been disappointing or even a train wreck! At Alethia, we prioritize counselors who can help you feel at home - people you would enjoy getting coffee with, much less talk about the hard things in life. Our front desk team will pair you with the right counselor for you.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults who feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or are navigating trauma. Many aren’t sure what to do next or how to move forward, even when things seem okay on the outside. My background includes working with a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges, as well as more complex concerns. Together, we make sense of patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships, including how past experiences may still be shaping what’s happening now.

Often times we find ourselves going through the motions in life and not feeling "alive". We can't seem to pinpoint what it is that’s creating that disconnect, but we know we want to feel better. I'd love to help you with a guided self-discovery, an understanding of exactly what those obstacles are, and how to move past them to help you live the life you've imagined!

Seeking help for life’s struggles is not an easy task especially when it requires our emotional exposure. I believe it takes a very courageous person to seek help and be vulnerable. If this is you, I want to congratulate you! I consider it an honor and a big privilege to walk beside my clients who are facing hardships in life. I believe therapy can be extremely helpful when the client is approached with welcoming, comforting and the nonjudgmental heart of a therapist.

For many of us, working on emotional and relational issues is something we tend to put off until life gets too painful to manage on our own. We struggle to get back to what life used to be, but we cannot seem to find our way. Marriages dissolve, relationships crumble, routine tasks seem overwhelming, and the life for which God made us appears to be permanently out of reach. Perhaps you are reading this now because you are looking for a change. Your new beginning is one step away, and I would be honored to take that journey with you.

Sometimes what we want to believe is true about our lives doesn’t match the reality of what we are living. In many ways, it is easier to continue in old patterns, believing the best and trying to make things work. But can we really be healthy if we never face reality? If you are facing a tough reality, you need to know that healing is possible, and you can get through this. You likely already have the very qualities required to not only make it through, but to thrive on the other side of devastating relational pain.

Today our complicated and fast-paced lives are full of pressures that challenge us in countless ways. "How can I find happiness in my marriage?", "How do I cope with...?", and "Why do I feel so out of control?" are some of the questions I hear from clients seeking to understand their life journey and questioning what they can do to reach their true potential - individually, as a couple, or as a family. Soul searching is rarely an easy path to take, yet wanting to achieve an emotionally healthy life is usually the motivator which begins the process.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
