You may feel like you're on an emotional rollercoaster and find it difficult to cope with what you feel others see as “normal” life struggles. You may also find it difficult to set boundaries, feel anxious/overwhelmed with certain relationships and struggle with guilt, shame and invalidation. If this sounds like you, I'd love to help.

As a Cognitive Behavioral therapist, I work with clients to identify unhelpful thought and behavior patterns that maintain suffering, interfere with quality of life, and inhibit day to day functioning. Along with CBT, I specialize in several evidence-based treatment modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I believe in “using what works” and designing interventions that are personalized to each client’s needs. This approach provides clients with a unique skillset that will continuously aid in personal growth and development across the lifespan.

A relationship seldom gets better on its own, but we often “hope” that it will. Don’t wait until you loose hope to seek relationship counseling, or counseling for any other issues you may be facing. The longer you wait, the more difficult each day can become. Self-help books often generalize, and medication often fails to deal with the cause of the imbalance. With counseling, I provide a personalized examination of your issues so that you may learn how to overcome them and create a life of relationships and experiences that you will greet with great enthusiasm.

I'm a Licensed Psychologist and enjoy working with adults of all ages. I find that I am most helpful to clients who are interested in reflecting more deeply on what it means to be human, in all of its suffering and all of its beauty. My intention is to provide a relationship in which we can identify and explore the narratives you have about your life and self. And then in the safety of our relationship, I want us to begin the process of deconstructing what has been and start reconstructing what is to come. Through this process, I believe we will find acceptance and healing.

It takes a lot of courage to seek out therapy, and I want to thank you for taking this step and seeking hope in your life. The therapist-client relationship is so important for your success, and I hope you find the right one for you. In therapy, I strive to create a warm, safe, and accepting place where you feel open to explore patterns or oppressive systems that are keeping you stuck. My goal is to create an inviting and sometimes quirky experience where you can learn more about yourself. By bravely bringing the dark to light in therapy, I believe you can find the inherent strength within to live the life you want.

I believe psychotherapy should be a transformational experience. We often get stuck in patterns of relating and being that, at one time, were adaptive and protective, but no longer help us to be our best selves. Psychotherapy helps to understand those patterns, develop strategies to disrupt them, and create new ways of being and relating that get us closer to our personal and professional goals.

How can I find a therapist in 75219?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
