Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, I struggled with drug and alcohol addiction at an early age. Today, I am proud to say that I have maintained sobriety since 2008. My desire to help others launched me into an academic and career path focused on helping those and their families impacted with addiction and mental health issues. I have worked in several different treatment settings, such as hospitals, residential treatment, and sober living. I utilize several different modalities and approaches to therapy to work with individuals, couples, and families. I also do interventions on those battling any addiction.

We all face difficult and confusing times. My goal is to assist clients in a confidential and compassionate environment by providing therapy services in the home. My specialties include issues of aging, grief and bereavement, chronic illness, and life transitions. I spent many years working as a hospice social worker. It was a natural transition to have a practice that comes to the client', hopefully with dignity and humor. I have a passion for senior issues and learn from my clients daily.

I think that everyone deserves to feel better. Unfortunately life happens and throws us a curve ball. This can leave us feeling out of sorts. We try to put our life "back together" as best we can seeking help from family or friends. Sometimes this is not enough. This is where I come in, helping you find a way to make a run even if life pitches you one curve ball after another. At times it will be difficult and you may feel like you struck out but with practice, guidance, and uncovering inner strength you can make a run maybe even a homerun.

Picking the right therapist isn’t easy. It’s not like some things where you can just google “Best Vacuum” and get a top ten list. If only it worked that way! Then again, maybe it shouldn’t. Therapy is a relationship and like all relationships, not everyone is a good match. We do get a sense when someone is (potentially at least!) right, and trusting that gut feeling is a good place to start. Honestly, I think reading something like this can give you an ok first impression, but nothing beats actually hearing someone’s voice, seeing their face. Then you can really know if you feel safe and are able to be yourself. That's so important.

Firstly, I applaud those who embark on the path of self-discovery. As a licensed clinical social worker, my commitment is to wholeheartedly assist clients in unveiling their fullest potential and rediscovering lives filled with satisfaction and joy. The journey of growth and improvement is lifelong, and self-reflection allows us to acknowledge the less polished aspects of ourselves. It's perfectly normal to stumble; the key is learning from every experience.

If you are struggling with feelings of inadequacy, difficulty with making everyday decisions, a loss rather it be a person, career, marriage or a traumatic event, my desire is to provide a safe space where you find clarity, hope, and healing. The most important aspect of the therapeutic relationship is building a warm, genuine, non-judgmental connection. As a therapist, that is my goal. I believe when people sense that you genuinely care and respect them, they are more open to honestly sharing about themselves and participating in the process of improving their lives.

The issues that arise in our lives can often feel like they are too big for us to handle. We can feel confused, beaten down, or overwhelmed. Life circumstances can lead us to a place where we feel alone and hurting. The most important thing to know when we find ourselves in these places is that you are not alone. Challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, and chronic stress can leave us all feeling lost. But you do not have to stay lost. You can begin your journey towards the life that you want for yourself and you don't have to go on that journey alone.

Hello! I've been a therapist in Dallas for more than twenty years, and in that time, I've helped hundreds of people overcome the obstacles that stood in the way of their happiness. These issues include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, substance abuse, and trauma-related issues, among others. I believe the strongest tool a therapist has is a caring, honest therapeutic relationship with the client. If you are ready to take a positive step in finding fulfillment, then I'm ready to help.

Life can sometimes lead you to situations that you could never imagine you would be in. You can often think “What do I do next? where do we go from here”? The pressures of “where do I want to be vs. where am I expected to be” can become overwhelming. Are you currently in a relationship that feels “stuck” and suffering in communication? Are you newly engaged and want to make sure your relationship is rooted in healthy communication, transparency, and trust? I work with clients who may feel these things and are opened to taking the next step to explore solutions. Therapy with me can make life feel hopeful again.

Therapy shouldn’t have to feel like a job interview. It is a space where you are able to discover strengths about yourself that you didn't think existed. I strive to provide a safe, open space for my clients to feel comfortable and as vulnerable as they can possibly be. I have experience in several types of issues, ranging from stress, anxiety, depression, to trauma as well. My goal is to help my clients find the power to understand the control they have over their own problems and empower them to find ways to resolve some of the issues that they face on a daily basis.

Do you often find yourself worrying about the important relationships in your life? Maybe you’re wondering what happened to the sense of connection you once felt with your partner? Or perhaps you’re stuck in a painful pattern with someone you care deeply about, but you can’t figure out how to get unstuck? For many of us, relationships are central to our life, and we crave deep and meaningful connections. And, it makes perfect sense to feel distressed when we are disconnected from loved ones, when we are in a period of difficult transition, or when events and concerns from the past impact our current relationships.

If you are looking for a space to feel seen, to practice being your authentic self, and to work through current (or past) events that are bringing you distress, welcome. You’ve taken the often difficult first step towards healing. I am a psychotherapist serving folks out of the DFW area (I am also able to provide services in other areas of Texas), and I am particularly passionate about providing a space for exploration and healing to members of the Deaf community (d/Deaf individuals, CODAs, interpreters, Deaf educators, and others who are peripheral to the deaf community). I provide therapy in both English and ASL.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Dallas?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
