You feel like anxiety has crept into all areas of your life. You avoid decisions or situations that feel overwhelming, and instead turn to any distraction (mindless eating, social media, drinking, etc.) you can find to avoid the shame and guilt of not moving forward. Maybe you're struggling with body image and wonder if you're relationship with food is normal. If you're in a relationship, maybe you feel disconnected from your partner and don't feel heard, much less understood. You avoid topics of conversation like intimacy, needs or finances because it always ends in conflict.

I believe the foundation of meaningful therapy starts with trust. My natural empathy allows me to create a space where clients feel safe, seen, and supported from the very beginning. I collaborate with my patients, with a focus on compassion and empathy. My clients are in the driver's seat, they know what is weighing heaviest on them, not me. Patients can expect the intake to be an information gathering session. I need to know the answers to particular questions in order to offer the best services I can, and to understand the client's sense of safety and risk, and their goals for therapy.

Hi there! I'm Ashley :) I am passionate about providing trauma-focused, culturally competent mental health care to clients of all identities. I specialize in treating "big T" trauma, attachment/developmental trauma or "little T," PTSD/complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, and addiction. Often my clients feel stuck in their symptoms, which hold them back from enjoying comfort in their daily lives. These symptoms could include panic attacks, dissociative episodes, feeling disconnected from others, or waves of sadness, all of which can lead to unhealthy self-medication.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that healing happens when you feel truly seen. I support individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, identity shifts, and the impact of culture, family, or neurodivergence—especially those who’ve learned to survive by staying busy or putting others first. My approach is steady, affirming, and practical. We’ll explore patterns without shame and build tools that fit real life. You’re not broken—you’re human, and your story matters here.

You have been struggling for some time with being all alone in the world. You constantly have nagging worries that you will never find happiness or fulfillment. None of your friends understand what you are going through. It is so difficult to believe that things will ever get better. Close partners in your life abandoned you when you needed them the most. You try to move on, but you catch yourself thinking things like, “Am I attractive?” “Why don’t I feel good enough?” "What if I spend the rest of my life alone?" "What if I really am a failure?" The truth is, you deserve to live a life free of worry and fear. You deserve to thrive.

Are you stuck in a cycle a sexual addiction or porn that you can’t break—no matter how hard you try? You may promise yourself it’s the last time, only to return again feeling weighed down by guilt, shame, or frustration. You are not alone, and it’s not your fault. Sexual struggles often have deep roots. The patterns that keep you returning usually began long before you realized it—often shaped by childhood wounds, unmet needs, or painful emotions. In therapy, we will work together to uncover what’s really driving these patterns, including unresolved shame, codependence, and enmeshment, so you can finally break free from the cycle.

If you’re reading this, some part of your life has worn out its welcome, and you’re ready for change. Maybe you’re tired of planning your life around alcohol, another substance, or addictive behaviors that keep you stuck in a rut, preventing you from living as your most authentic self. It could be that you find it difficult to establish and enforce boundaries. Finding the motivation and drive you once had might feel too challenging. Connecting with your partner may be a constant struggle. Or, perhaps, you want to give yourself the gift of space and confidentiality to work through the struggles of managing life's daily challenges.

I help you to change habits, feelings and thoughts that aren't supporting you right now, using the power of your subconscious mind. My clients usually come to me when something is getting in the way of their feeling good or doing well. It could be to stop smoking or another 'bad' habit, a weight issue, under-performance in sports or school, stress or frustration at work or at home, relationship challenges from the past or in the present, or simply stop doing what isn't working and start doing what is, making it easy and automatic within the mind.

I am very person centered meaning that the patient is my entire focus. Patients can expect to laugh, cry, feel seen and heard, but most importantly they can expect to have someone in their corner rooting them on with empathetic and compassionate guidance, which will hopefully allow them to feel less alone or isolated within their struggles.

You’ve been carrying so much for so long. You’re the one people rely on - at work, in your relationships, within your family. But the person you show up for the least is yourself. And lately, a quiet thought has been surfacing: I can’t keep going like this. You recognized something has got to change for your life to continue in a sustainable way. If you’re curious about working together, you’re welcome to reach out by text or email to begin. You don’t have to have it all figured out to take the first step.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
