In my more than a decade of counseling, I’ve frequently heard, “You’re the first person I’ve ever told that too” or “I’ve been too afraid to admit that until now”. It is after these freeing moments that the real work begins. One of the best things about counseling is that it provides a safe place where the truth can be told! If you are afraid to speak your truth, to be honest about your feelings, or to just keep it real, it impedes the healing process. I like asking the hard questions, guiding my clients through having the hard conversations and motivating them to make the hard decisions. Let's talk about the truth!

Through their work at The Heart of Counseling and Wellness, clients learn ways to break negative behavioral patterns, gain healthy coping tools, and receive psychoeducation on mental health. My main focus is intergenerational trauma. I work with my clients to gain an understanding of what happened to them and how it affects how they show up today. My goal is to walk with each client to get to the heart of what brings them through my door. I believe that with support and empowerment, individuals can have fulfilling and healthy lives.

I have a general practice focusing on clients with life’s adjustment, marriage & family issues, conditions unique to childhood & adolescence, coping with disabilities, trauma recovery, crisis intervention, stress management, and conflict resolution. I primarily approach counseling from a CBT perspective, however, I integrate theoretical approaches (including solution-focused, strengths-based and biblical principles), to better understand aspects of the clients’ problems for effectual treatment. I serve clients from ages 5 through adulthood regardless of their race, nationality, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation.

Individuals and couples often come in with relationship challenges: with family, friends, spouse, co-workers and even oneself, which is the most important relationship in my humble opinion. Trust tends to be a central theme, as trust is a delicate issue, without proper care, trust can be lost. We can lose trust/faith in ourselves, finding anxiety and depression to be a real struggle, we can lose trust in our spouse, leaving us in an unhealthy relationship that is not sustainable.

Do you ever feel like your needs and feelings take a back seat in your relationships — whether it’s with friends, family, a partner, or at work? Maybe you’re the one always giving, taking care of others, or saying yes even when you’re running on empty. You might show up for everyone else, even when you're overwhelmed or drained. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and it’s okay to want support for what you're carrying.

Only telehealth at this time. I aim to help clients learn skills that will help them manage their emotions, effectively cope with distress, and develop healthier relationships. I also enjoy helping parents and families' support loved ones through validation, limit-setting, and emotional regulation skills. I emphasize a warm, non-judgmental approach to client care, helping clients reach practical, concrete solutions to complex problems. I believe every individual has the potential to achieve success within his/her personal, professional and relationship life.

Every person on the earth needs to feel safe, valued, loved, and respected. My job as a therapist is to help clients tap into their God-given skills, abilities, and strengths to discover the jewel hidden beneath all the pain, depression, anxiety, and loss. People need to know their life has a purpose, and when they win and overcome, they give others hope and courage that they can do the same. The goal is freedom and the ability to live the life God intended. We will laugh, cry, and scream if necessary.

Are you carrying the weight of always being the strong one — the one others depend on — while privately feeling exhausted, disconnected, or unsure how to make space for your own needs? Many of the clients I work with are navigating anxiety, burnout, family expectations, and the emotional complexity of showing up in spaces that weren’t built with them in mind. If you’re longing for a space where you don’t have to over-explain and can finally exhale, you don’t have to do it alone.

Being an LGBTQ+ therapist means creating a space where authenticity is celebrated, healing is possible, and every identity is affirmed. It means understanding that mental health is deeply connected to the lived experiences of individuals—whether it’s navigating self-acceptance, family relationships, discrimination, or the search for belonging. My role is not just to provide therapy, but to hold space for resilience, joy, and self-discovery. I aim to help my clients challenge internalized stigma, rewrite harmful narratives, and step into their truth with confidence.

Whether you are at the dinner table with your family, sitting next to your partner on the couch, or in an office full of coworkers, feeling unnoticed and unheard is a painful experience. Our relationships should be a source of empowerment, safety, and comfort. Not a source of chronic anxiety, stress, and grief. Whether it is the relationship you have with yourself, your spouse, partner, child, parent, or co-parent you are looking to heal and improve, with some fine tuning, we can build upon the skills and strengths you already have to create more meaningful and positive interactions in your everyday life and relationships.
