When you cut a tree down and look at the growth rings added every year, you can see the way fire, water, wind, and people have impacted its life each year. I believe that people are no different. Our environment shapes us, and nevertheless we grow. Some years are harder than others, but even within the hard years, growth takes place.

I am constantly amazed at the resilience of the human spirit, despite all we encounter in life.
