After over 20 years as a psychologist, I have moved to a completely online practice. While this format may not be appropriate or comfortable for all people, for many it can be a great resource. Perhaps you live in an area of Oklahoma that makes it difficult for you to access services, or you want the convenience of meeting in the privacy of your home or office without spending to time going back and forth to a different location. The online format for therapy has been shown to be therapeutically effective, and it can be a great vehicle for forming a strong, caring therapeutic alliance that is the basis for future growth.

I am often asked how I help my clients. First, I see you as more than a client. I could be in your shoes. I would want you to treat me like real person instead of just another client. I get to know you...the real you. I dedicate time to hear where you have been and how those experiences helped shape who you are today. Next, we identify the roadblocks that have kept you stuck. Lastly, we move into solutions. We work together to identify strategies and the most effective ways to implement them.

Your TikTok and Instagram feeds are practically shouting: "Time for therapy!" You’re no stranger to the self-help scene, but those pesky ghosts from your past just won't let up. Sure, you've found some strategies that work, but let's be real—some aren't the healthiest and don’t stick around for the long haul. These ghosts could be creeping into your business, relationships, and parenting, affecting your life in ways you might not even realize. Or maybe you’re being proactive, recognizing you want to tackle these issues before they take a toll. Either way, it’s time to face them head-on!

I work collaboratively with individuals with OCD, anxiety, phobias, tic, and BFRBs. I provide ethical and evidence-based services by immersing myself in continuing education and training led by up-to-date research in order to provide focused care for individuals with issues in these specific areas. It takes a great deal of bravery to walk into a therapist's office -and- research says working with a therapist is essential in successfully addressing these diagnoses. My role is to honor that bravery with care, acceptance, and options toward the changes you want to see.

Are you spending your day feeling burnt out, on the verge of a meltdown, or feeling like you are going to shut down? A social life is important to keep our cups full and spoons in our drawers. However, when you wake up still feeling tired from the day before, socializing is the last thing you want to do. Living in a mode of constantly feeling burnout does not allow you to be your best self. Understanding your daily needs is important so that you can live a happier and more fulfilled life.

Welcome-I'm very happy you're here! I provide telehealth counseling services and am licensed in the states of Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Washington. My belief as a clinician holds that the most useful tool in therapy is the collaborative relationship between therapist and client. I operate from what is often referred to as a psychodynamic or relational psychodynamic approach. In therapy our tasks are to build a trusting relationship, to discover and understand your beliefs/feelings on their deepest levels, to discover how your history and experiences have shaped your beliefs, and then to address how these beliefs have helped

“Just one episode of Supernatural,” you promise yourself, as you collapse onto the couch completely bone-tired. One episode quickly turns into a mini Netflix binge that leaves you feeling more numb and exhausted than when you hit ‘play.’ The Winchesters have become a way to fill the space since you can’t take one more minute of ‘being on and having it all together’ and yet you feel powerless in the attempts you’ve made to change it.

Having a hard time trusting yourself or feeling confident? It can be extremely difficult in a world full of opinions and pressures of your family, friends, society, and don’t forget social media. It may leave you feeling like the universe is against you, like you think you’re doing everything “right” but everything feels so “wrong.” Imagine a life with freedom from the opinions and judgments of others. It can be a painful and daunting task to separate your beliefs/values from those around you, this is called healthy detachment. This is not a selfish endeavor as many may think; it is the path to self-love and inner peace.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
