One of the most powerful forces on earth comes from our relationships. Relationships provide a way for us to connect with others physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When our relationships suffer, we are often deprived of the powerful force of human connection. Finding our way back to relationships and the connection they provide may seem difficult. Counseling provides a therapeutic relationship of human connection to build a bridge back to the relationships that are most meaningful for us. Stepping into something new like counseling when our relationships are broken can feel overwhelming.

Are you navigating anxiety that feels constantly present, wrestling with attention challenges that keep you stuck in overwhelm, or feeling pulled in different directions by family stress? Are recurring thoughts showing up in ways that interfere with daily life, relationships, or your sense of peace? Maybe you know what you want to change, but feel unsure where to start or how to make it stick. What would it feel like to move from simply surviving to having real clarity, steady support, and practical tools that help you feel more grounded, focused, and in control of your life again?

It takes courage and integrity to recognize when we're not happy and to do something positive about it. There are times in all our lives when we feel there is something holding us back from reaching our potentials. We may have fears, anxieties, or other sources of emotional pain that seem to keep us from fulfilling roles in our lives in the ways we would like--in our careers, in our relationships, as a parents, etc. Psychotherapy is a pathway to creating the life you want by identifying and removing obstacles and working toward the positive changes you need.

I like to think I have a unique skill set coupled with life experience that equips me to be a dynamic therapist. I served as a Marine in the military, spent 20 years working in the pathology field looking at healing the body, and now work with clients from 5 years old to older adults healing the mind. I value your experience and how it has shaped your core beliefs. But just because we have these beliefs doesn’t make them true. Together, we can assign new rules to these beliefs and heal the system as a whole—both body and mind.

I approach my life's work humbly, even reverently, with deep sensitivity for what's got you even coming to see someone like me in the first place. I get that, really I do. And I'd love to help. I fit best with people who are okay with ambiguity and can "let the questions breathe," as we work on whatever has brought us together. I am able to see clients in Texas in person or virtually when you are in Arkansas.

Each day, we are witness to a social climate that surrounds us in fear and uncertainty. These negative effects are especially hard on those facing challenges with anxiety, depression, grief, job stress, trauma, or situational life crisis. If you are feeling overwhelmed in any of these areas, the first step to healing is asking for help. Support is there. It is my belief that we all have the inherent ability to foster change within us. It is my privilege to assist you with cultivating tools to use on a journey of emotional/ spiritual growth.

My ideal client is someone who is willing and ready to make an active change in their life. As a creative and expressive therapist I work well with clients that are willing to utilize artistic strategies, view things from many perspectives, and use out of the box thinking. Those who wish to have a collaborative, warm, and empathetic therapeutic relationship are a great fit. I tend to work well with clients who struggle with things such as depression, anxiety, burn-out, women’s issues, LGBTQ+ issues, adjustment issues, or interpersonal issues and are prepared to collaboratively design specific and time-oriented goals.

Feeling stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed? You don’t have to stay there. If fear, anxiety, or painful memories from the past are holding you back, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it on your own. EMDR Therapy is a powerful, evidence-based approach that helps people break free from the emotional patterns rooted in trauma. It works by helping your brain process and release what's been keeping you stuck—so you can finally move forward with clarity, confidence, and peace. I’m a bilingual EMDR therapist, and since 2006, I’ve helped individuals just like you reconnect with their strength, resilience, and purpose.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
