I provide a compassionate, caring, nonjudgmental, trusting and peaceful environment in which my clients feel safe to be open and honest. Everyone has a story, difficult situations we've encountered, things we don't like about ourselves, relationship struggles, and things we want to change or do better. Also, we all want to be heard and understood. I think this is one of the most important things in counseling, along with having a strong client/counselor relationship. I offer nonjudgmental, down-to-earth counseling to help clients identify their objectives and goals, while developing a treatment plan to achieve same.

My clients often are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and anxious because of life changes and constant feelings of worry and overwhelm. The kids, teens, and young adults I work with often need to feel heard and set goals of better understanding their big emotions. A major part of this work is including parents and caregivers to provide tools and strategies that can help at home. My clients often have trouble expressing their deepest feelings and want to have better relationships with friends and family. Anxiety sometimes feels like it gets in the way of close relationships, but, together, we can discover new ways to reconnect.

She specializes in working with children, adolescents, and parents. Dr. Vaughn provides the following clinical services: Individual Therapy, Play Therapy, Parent Child Interactional Therapy, Autplay, Telehealth, Mental Health Consultation to local schools. Dr. Vaughn has years of experience providing clinical services to those with ADHD, anxiety, autism (level 1), adjustment disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, dysregulation issues, and other developmental disorders.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor at Vaughn Therapeutic Collective. I work with children and adolescents who experience behavioral challenges, defiant behavior, adjustment, low self esteem, learning differences, and challenging peer relations. I have years of experience as a school counselor, consultant, and behavioral interventionist. I believe in working closely with caregivers and teachers to work towards therapeutic goals. I work with clients in a variety of formats including individual, group, and family sessions. My counseling approach comes from cognitive-behavioral, non- directive, and play based approaches.

Counseling can appear to be overwhelming and intimidating. However it does not have to be this way. As we seek validation and acceptance in our lives, there are certain paths that we must take to find them. I believe one of the most important things is for people to learn how to get along with other important people in their lives, such as friends, spouses, siblings, relatives, co-workers, etc. Additionally, I strongly believe that the fundamental relationship between a client and counselor is to foster openness, trust, and personal growth.

Life can be difficult for children and their parents. I have experience in both clinical and school settings working with children who experience anxiety, low self-esteem, peer issues, behavior issues, and adjustment to life events. Parent collaboration is essential to a child's growth and success in therapy, because you know your child best! I enjoy working with parents on creating structure, building a positive relationship with their child, and facilitating change.

For the past 5 years, I have counseled children, adolescents, and adults in the New Orleans area. My company, Jacquelyn Walther, LPC-S, NCC, currently does have a wait-list and accepts most insurance including Medicaid. I presently see clients in the afternoons, Monday through Friday and on Saturdays, I see clients throughout the day.
