Every time I begin to work with a new person, I am always awed by the motivation and fortitude it takes to make changes in one's life. To explore our fears, motivations, dreams, goals and strengths is not necessarily the norm of our society, however, to embark on this journey provides a significantly more fulfilled life.

I have spent over 15 years working with children, adults, and families in private practice, homes, residential facilities, treatment centers, and emergency shelters. I now address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and confusion during life transitions for women. My diverse and unique experiences as a practitioner and an individual, make me a strong ally for change and healing. I work with emotional/behavioral issues with clients who are ready for change. I am also a Life Coach for women who are ready to stop people-pleasing by recognizing their own self-worth and empowerment.

I have had the privilege to work with individuals and families to overcome challenges from depression, anxiety, trauma and losses such like those experienced from sexual abuse or other events for more than 25 years. I believe in individually tailored treatment and interventions that are suited to meet your specific situation. I have extensive training background with trauma treatment interventions such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and the Good Lives Model.

My counseling and psychotherapy practice has grown from the roots of a 34- year career in public education. My experiences include 24 years in the classroom as a Spanish teacher (K-12), and a decade working as a high school Counselor. I have counseled diverse populations and cultures, and have extensive knowledge and practice in working with students who receive special education services. I have worked with families in crisis due to death, deployment and adverse circumstances. In addition, I have personal insight into the unique demands of military families as the mother of both an active duty soldier and a combat veteran.

I have great interest and extensive practical experience in working with patients of mental health disorders. As a passionate advocate for women’s health, I experience in conducting psycho-educational group sessions and pregnancy centered group sessions.

Valerie believes in the power of supportive listening, empathy, and creating a space where no one should feel alone. She specializes in helping people who are grieving, facing an acute or chronic illness, caregiving, navigating death and dying, and aging issues. In addition, Valerie loves helping people with neurodiversity, such as ADHD, and women's issues such as parenting, self-esteem, and identity challenges. She is a strong supporter of diversity and inclusion and believes everyone deserves a safe space to talk openly.

Dr. Christine Salvatore, LIMHP, LMHP, LMFT, MAC earned a Master of Science Degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Doctorate in Behavioral Health from Arizona State University. Ms. Salvatore has over 22 years of experience in both mental health and substance abuse facilities.

Life can be overwhelming, making you feel helpless or create anguishing for you/your relationships. You may find your mind racing with "what if" and a sense of anxiety or foreboding. Other times, something so significant or shocking happens that it completely changes how you view the world. You may struggle to communicate or understand your emotions. And it may not stop there, disruptions can ripple out and affect your friends, partner, spouse, or family. They may want to help, want to understand, but like you may not know where to start. Finding serenity in yourself or your relationship can be a daunting task.

I invite clients to explore their problems by working to create a safe, accepting environment. Believing that a problem holds the key to its solution, I try to help clients hear what they are saying and pay attention to the way they see things. Symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and relationship problems often echo patterns or concerns we have carried for years. I encourage clients to say what they think and feel so they can accept where they are, see the possibility of change, and take the risk of acting different.
