As the Founder of Coyote Hill (coyotehill.org) I have worked with foster children and families in crisis for over 33 years. My counseling focus is on working with male youth and men address anger management, stress, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, grief, religious trauma, and other behavioral and relationship issues with specialized therapeutic approaches that can significantly impact individuals' lives, helping them to heal and grow. In a world that often demands us to mask our struggles, having a space where your feelings are validated, and your experiences are understood can be transformative.

Maybe you've "been there, done that." Tried that program or seen that counselor or taken that medication. Nothing seems to be working. Once-per-week therapy doesn't seem like enough to get you over the hump, yet, spending 30 days away from home isn't an option, either. It's a good thing we believe there's no right way to do treatment for mental health issues including depression and anxiety, mood disorders, substance use, compulsive behaviors, disordered eating/eating disorders, the list goes on and on. Plus, the "problem" is never the actual problem, right?

We often tell ourselves, "I should be able to handle this." Persistence has served us well in the past as we have built our careers, but sometimes our self-reliance becomes a burden as we find ourselves suffering in isolation. We don't think of asking for help until things become desperate. We may find we are avoiding our problems by using chemical substances or doom-scrolling on TikTok. We want to feel good about work again, we want our relationships to bring us joy again. But we also may have stopped hoping our situation could get better, except on occasion when we privately dare to hope.

What makes counseling work? A study found that resilience, relationship and faith make a difference. Together we can figure out your capacity for resilience - yes you have a capacity for change. One of the best things about counseling is building relationship. You can't know someone without allowing them to know you. Building that relationship is my primary focus and greatest strength. Believing that change is possible and using that belief can help your process. What are your values and beliefs? How do they guide you? I use my faith in my process, I will encourage you to use yours, whatever it may be - all are welcome.

You are allowed to take care of yourself and be your first priority. You don't have to wait until you're struggling, exhausted or burnt out to tend to your wellbeing. Self care is a prevention strategy. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, shame, anger or trauma that effects your health or relationships. Lets spark change in a safe space by healing wounds, uncovering patterns that no longer serve you, and explore how history impacts the present. You have the ability to adjust the lens through which you view the world and yourself. Your life challenges are opportunities for growth and learning.

I have been in practice for 30 years. I have trained extensively in attachment focused traumas that result in Complex PTSD. I have worked extensively with childhood physical/sexual abuse as well as emotional, developmental neglect. I understand the impact of these childhood issues on adult life. I also work effectively with grief. I am looking for clients who want to work through childhood traumas, grief and challenges in life using EMDR. I am interested in clients who want to reconnect with parts of themselves that you dislike or have disowned so you can be a more complete version of yourself.

My practice at Reclaim is dedicated to women suffering the damaging impact of relational abuse, betrayal trauma, or sexual coercion. This trauma can occur as a result of a partners' addiction to pornography, substances, or other compulsive behaviors. Covert emotional abuse is a 'hidden epidemic' today that often goes unnoticed or disregarded by family, friends, church, and counselors. We also work with women who have PTSD due to family-of-origin/attachment issues or other traumatic life events. We offer safe connection and a pathway to healing.
