I love working with individuals and couples who seek to carve out a path of hope and newly imagined potential for themselves. Whether that’s moving through a transition, trauma, loss, or just wanting to feel “unstuck”. Licensed in CA & MO, in-person office in KCMO. I love working with women who are sensitive or have always felt "different." They tend to be neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, have had harmful or traumatic experiences with religion, or are from some type of marginalized community. At the same time, my foundations are in relational psychodynamic and emotion-focused work, so those interested in working on attachment or emotional concerns, depth work, and any relationship issues are great fits, too. I'm EMDR trained and am so excited at the change that can come with this modality, including for trauma, self-criticism, and even social anxiety.

You’re tired in a way that rest doesn’t seem to fix. You carry layers of expectations and responsibility, along with the fear of letting others down. You put everyone else first, often without thinking twice, leaving little room for yourself. You might be the “mom” of your friend group, the one who always says yes, or the person who smooths over tensions to keep everyone happy. When you try to pause, or care for yourself, guilt often follows. Slowing down can feel unsettling, especially when being needed has felt so important.

I believe every individual is infinitely unique. I also believe that every person can grow and be better than they were yesterday. I believe my job is to help people find the tools and resources they need to continue growing - and that looks different for everyone. My favorite aspect of therapy is that it can be tailored to individuals' authentic thoughts, feelings, experiences, needs, or goals.

When I first sought out counseling, I hoped therapy would help me fix what was wrong with me. Through my own journey and professional training I found a more effective starting place. No one needs fixing; we need healing and the tools it takes to begin.

Life can be complex and uncertain. Everyday there are choices, decisions, and challenges even with the uncertainty. Sometimes we can feel ill-equipped, lost, disconnected, or over-burdened. Exploring our existential anxieties and fears in safe place allows us to build a greater awareness of our freedom, responsibility, and choices. The goal is not just to alleviate distress, but to embrace the uncertainties of life, live authentically, and find personal fulfillment. I want to help people confront their fears and live more purposefully, seeking an authentic existence despite the existential challenges they face.

I work with individuals and couples who have experienced a loss in their life and are needing guidance and support as they navigate their journey of grief. In a society that tells us how we are "supposed" to grieve or what actually counts as a loss, it can be challenging to know how to take your first steps forward. My clients are individuals or couples who are trying to make sense of their loss, working towards acceptance of their loss, preparing for a significant loss, and anywhere in between that someone finds themselves in their journey through grief. I also treat other issues such as anxiety, depression and boundary setting.

You might be carrying more than you let on, feeling anxious, low, or unsettled in ways that are difficult to explain. Many people seek therapy when emotional overwhelm, anxiety, or low mood begin to affect their sense of self or connection to others. I work with adults to support emotional clarity, steadiness, and deeper understanding during times when things feel heavy or unclear.

Perhaps you've even reached out for help but not yet found the right fit, yet you long to break through these challenges and feel like yourself again.

I truly believe we are all capable of emotional well-being, and inherently possess the skills and tools needed to thrive. However, sometimes trauma, life stressors or transitions, or the weight of emotional challenges can make it difficult to find or recall those tools and skills. I practice therapy from a person-centered approach, which means that I believe you are the expert on yourself, and my role is to partner with you as we work to rediscover those skills and strengths that may feel as though they have been lost. We are not meant to be "fixed", we simply sometimes need support in finding our way back to ourselves.

Do you feel like you're surfing the waves of life or getting smacked in the face by them? If it's the latter, you're in the right place.
I draw from evidence-based models like CBT and ACT (translation: solid tools that work), with a strong focus on mindfulness, self-compassion, and personal accountability. And if you're a creative type - or just open to trying something different - I love weaving in art-making to help engage your whole brain in the healing process.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
