No one is immune to mental health concerns and no one should feel like they need to be. Everyone has the potential to cultivate change and growth in their life. Often times, those that have devoted their careers to supporting and protecting others feel like they have no place to turn for help themselves.

Parenting is so tough! Children face so many obstacles and sometimes we just don't know how to help them. It can feel like we've tried everything. When children are struggling they often act out behaviorally; or sometimes it shows up as stomach aches or problems sleeping. Allowing your child to come to therapy can give them the opportunity to learn more about themselves, their thoughts, and their feelings. Working with a therapist can also provide you, as the parent, the support that you're looking for. We can all work together to help your child realize how amazing they really are and be more successful in their daily lives.

I have 30 years experience as a licensed clinician and believe all behavior is communication. Whether it’s a child having meltdowns at school, an angry teenager, or an adult with anxiety – each contains a message that therapy can help decipher. I believe everyone is doing the best they can with the tools they currently have but sometimes that isn’t enough. By collaborating with you, the client, we will look at the bigger picture of things that may be influencing your challenges and make adjustments/learn new tools so that more effective strategies can shine through.

Whether it is a single event or a life time of struggles, our thoughts and emotions can become so overwhelming that every day tasks are difficult to complete. For some, it is hard to reach out for help but once you have taken the first step which is acknowledging you need help and you cannot do it alone, the journey of emotional healing begins. It is learning to confront life's adversities rather than allowing them to define you. It is a journey of self-discovery, self-awareness, and learning to trust intuition while building inner strength to embrace and love who you are. As your therapist, I will walk that journey with you.

All of us experience times in our lives when we are overwhelmed, anxious or depressed. These times should not define us. When these times arise, we need someone to listen to everything that is being said as well as hearing what is not being said. The ability to work through these tough times is necessary for all of us with the goal of being stronger as a result.

I have experience working with teenagers, families, young adults, and over a decade of experience with older adults prior to becoming a counselor. Throughout my work, one truth is this: We all are on a journey in our life story. Perhaps you are young adult feeling anxiety about the future. Perhaps you are a teenager, feeling disconnected and lonely in the social media age. Maybe you are an older adult, who is looking back on life and carrying some regret and grief you need to sort through. Maybe you went through childhood trauma and need a safe place to heal. Maybe you're battling addiction. Maybe you just need hope for tomorrow.

If you are reading these words, it is likely that you, or someone you care about, is grieving. You may be looking for help. You may not know what to do. Losing someone you love, or something very important or precious to you, may be the most difficult thing you will ever experience. The pain of the loss can feel unbearable, and sometimes grief gets complicated.

My emotions feel out of control & overwhleming. I just want to live authentically & be accepted as me, but self-doubt & fear get in my way. My family/spouse is unhealthy at best & abusive at worst. I've lived so much of my life trying to be enough for everyone else that I lost myself in the process. I'm not even sure of who I am anymore. I thought they loved me, but then how could they treat me this way? My relationship feels like a constant rollercoaster. One minute things are great & then it's terrible. Worse, I have no clue how we even got here. It feels like madness. No contact? Limited contact? I just don't know what to do!

Okay, so all about me. I've had quite a range of experiences. In my past, I have worked in various industries including food, retail, production, labor, and computers before transitioning to mental health and helping others. Since then, I've gained experience in various environments, including providing services in in-home care, homeless outreach, harm reduction, and working with individuals in child welfare, community, and in-school mental health settings. While it wasn’t something I would have expected at my start, I've found a knack working with teens and young adults.

Finding the right therapist is like finding a great pair of hiking boots. You know you want to go on a journey and your boots need to fit right, handle different terrain, and take you the distance. Sometimes you may even need to try on a few different pairs. As a practice owner and therapist, I think my skill lies in matching you with someone in my group or in the community who can take you the distance with the right combination or personality, style, and technical skill. While I am not currently taking new clients, please reach out, and let's have a conversation about who might be your ideal fit.
