If you're searching for someone to talk with, you've likely read a lot of names of different approaches, but It's widely accepted that the most important thing is a good “therapeutic alliance” or fit. This is, fundamentally, what makes therapy work. You owe it to yourself to find the right therapist, someone who palpably gets you. My built-in target demo has often been LGBT folks but I've gained a depth of experience with many kinds of clients. The common denominator is usually a readiness to dig into things.

Your child has big emotions, struggles with friendships, or reacts in ways that feel hard to support and you are not sure what will help.
Children often show stress and overwhelm through behavior when they do not yet have the words to express how they feel. What may look like defiance, withdrawal, or intense emotions is often a sign they need support in a different way.
I work with children and teens in Chicago with ADHD, autism, and anxiety, helping them build emotional regulation, social confidence, and coping skills that actually carry over into daily life. Sessions are active and interactive, not just sitting and talking.

I enjoy working with people dealing with life transitions, and those working to survive and thrive through trauma, depression, anxiety, and other oppressive life events and conditions. I have an affinity for those identifying with issues related to being a woman in a society that has been unkind to women. The people with whom I work want to reach their personal best and feel good about themselves and their lives. They also want to drop the "mask" and live authentically without regret.

Find the Missing Peace! My philosophy is that emotional pain is a result of feeling broken and incomplete. Therefore, therapy focuses on healing what is broken and seeking what is missing. Generally, we hope that something outside of ourselves will fill the emptiness -- job, money, relationship, food... In my experience filling the emptiness is an inside job. Accepting yourself, with or without those things, allows us to heal and enjoy the "stuff" so much more. My approach is collaborative, working together to explore and remove the obstacles in the way of your happiness and peace of mind.
