There are times in life when you have come to the limit of the old way of being. This may have been brought about by loss, stress, illness, or a new life stage. You're tired or stuck, grieving or worried. These experiences have likely brought you to the precipice of a new normal (whether you wanted it or not). I have a passion for working with people adjusting to new normals, with such concerns as stress, health challenges, reproductive grief (infertility, miscarriage, infant loss), postpartum concerns, and those struggling with experiences from childhood.

I work with adults and parents navigating trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Many are healing from abusive or narcissistic relationships, rebuilding their sense of self, confidence, and boundaries after emotional harm. Others are managing complex trauma, high-stress roles such as first responders or veterans, or feeling overwhelmed by parenting demands rooted in past experiences. I specialize in PTSD, childhood abuse, intimate partner violence, sexual trauma, and provide perinatal and postpartum mental health support.

How do we make sense of our experiences & emotions? How do we fill in the gaps between the occurrences in our lives & the resulting impact on our hearts? I believe our narratives, or the stories that we tell ourselves about who we are & what has happened to us, are complex & often interwoven with trauma, pain, heartbreak, and insecurities. Anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and other mental health struggles can rob us of our sense of control over our lives; leaving us feeling hopeless & alone. By connecting with nature & being seen, heard, & held with compassion & empathy, I believe we can find healing, empowerment, & authenticity.

Montanans face unique challenges related to geography, a culture of individualism, intergenerational patterns of trauma, and a changing economy. I’ve spent my career developing evidence-based skills to meet the needs of my neighbors. This starts with building a straightforward relationship as a foundation for work that attends to the needs of our physiology, psychology, spirituality, and our community. Therapy is about cultivating ongoing processes of resilience and everyday I do my best to work myself out of a job.

My area of focus and specialty has been with adolescents. Through working with teens I inevitably work with their parents and I'm comfortable working with adults as well on their own issues. I can also be a guiding hand to help them improve their parenting skills with a Love and Logic approach. I'm experienced with complicated family systems and truly believe that creating change for a teen requires work from the entire family to help support that change. Teens are malleable and are very capable of change if given the proper support.

“You are the most delightful child in all the world. Having you around just lights up my day.” For many of us, these statements do not resonate with our childhood experience. For others, childhood trauma left visible scars. And yet the child brain is wired for growth in an environment of unconditional love and acceptance.

You’re here because something has to change. The same fights, the same distance, the same hurt—it’s exhausting. Maybe you’ve tried talking it out, ignoring it, or starting fresh, only to find yourself stuck in the same painful cycles. You’re starting to wonder if things will ever get better, if “love” is enough, or if you’re just too different to make it work. This disconnection, resentment, and silence—it’s all weighing on you. Maybe you’ve tried what feels like everything to help, but nothing has made a difference. You don’t just want to “get by”—you want to feel close, understood, & secure. But right now, that feels out of reach.

Does life feel chaotic for you or your teen right now? The pressure to keep up, stay productive, and hold everything together can leave you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected — or just plain stuck. In our work together, we won’t focus on “fixing” you — because you’re not broken. Instead, we’ll help you find relief by building resilience, deepening self-understanding, and strengthening your ability to regulate emotions so you can feel more grounded, connected, and aligned with who you truly are.

If you feel stuck in your head overthinking, worrying, or trying to stay in control while still feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. These patterns are often signs that you’ve been carrying too much for too long. Therapy offers space to step out of survival mode and reconnect with yourself.

Reclaim Yourself with Online Therapy from Wildroots Collective. The voice in your head never seems to let up. "You’re not enough". "You’ll never feel better". "You should try harder" Deep down, you know these thoughts aren’t true, yet they continue to play on a loop. The world tells you to push through, to stay busy, to ignore the stress, anxiety, and exhaustion weighing you down. But ignoring it isn’t working. You’re struggling to feel connected, you're feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, you just want to numb out. Something has to change. Change is possible. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
