I am a compassionate and clear-thinking therapist. For the past thirty years, I have worked with clients to help them unravel problematic emotions, develop more resilience, and expand self-awareness. I use a psychodynamically informed approach, which means the therapy focuses both on current symptoms and problems, as well as underlying root causes. My style is interactive, engaging, and direct. I bring warmth, dedication, and an open presence to help clients sort through difficult issues and develop lasting confidence.

Life’s most difficult experiences—grief, trauma, and shame—can feel overwhelming and isolating. As a therapist with an MSW and extensive training in multiple evidence-based approaches, I understand that healing is not only possible but can lead to profound growth and renewed hope.

“Why do I feel like this? Why doesn’t it change?” These questions are so hard to sit with on our own. I’d love to help you find your answers. Together, we can collaborate on seeing the roots, connections, and patterns in your life which are disrupting your ability to feel whole, healthy, present, and alive. Humans are complex. Every part of us is in relationship to something, and those feedback loops can be confusing to navigate. My style is active, insight-based, creative, and flexible. My approach blends Jungian Depth Psychology (becoming whole) with Interpersonal Neurobiology (how mind/body/relationships shape each other).

Being a kid can be really hard! Kids respond to trauma, stressors and the world around them in different ways, which can be confusing and stressful for the family system. The families I work with may be looking for relief from challenging behaviors, to feel more connected as a family, to move beyond trauma and stressors and to feel like their kid can be a kid. As a clinician I am client-centered, relational and playful. I aim to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, non-judgmental and engaging, where an individual can access their own innate resilience and capacity for healing.

Would you like to work on relationship problems, chemical dependence issues, improve your self-esteem, manage stress or depression more effectively? I enjoy working with individuals and couples who are committed to improving their life situations . We work together to make desired changes that are present focused and applicable in current life situations. This insures that desired changes are workable for an individual's needs. I provide an atmosphere of respect and trust where one can explore new ideas and techniques. I want my clients to feel better when they leave the office than when they arrived.

Many people struggle with symptoms of depression, anxiety or insomnia. Others have difficulty in relationships, are dissatisfied with work or face serious health challenges. And many others struggle to adapt to life changes, or simply feel discouraged or unhappy. I work collaboratively with my clients to target the issues most challenging to them and use evidence-based approaches to improve those problems. I believe that developing a strong relationship with my clients provides the essential base from which sustainable change can be achieved. I am PsyPact certified and can practice telepsychology in those states.

Emily believes you have a unique and important life to lead. She approaches therapy as a conscious dialogue with the psyche that supports clarity and grounding to our fundamental orientation in life. Leaning into the Existentialists and Jung’s psychodynamics as foundational theories, Emily believes by working with the unconscious and hidden aspects of ourselves, we gain key perspectives on entrenched and archetypal patterns, false beliefs, or existential fears that may underlie our struggles in leading a fulfilling life.

Saba believes in the capacity of therapy to help people make changes in their lives that they've struggled with alone - struggles with relationships, habits and repetitions, or work/career difficulties. Often the barriers to change are emotions such as fear, trauma, guilt, shame, feeling of disconnection or self-criticism. By broadening the tolerance and capacity for emotional experiences and reflective thinking, Saba believes that therapy helps the client open up to more options of change and a new, better path for life.

When we feel stressed and overwhelmed, numb, or stuck, calmness and connection are harder to come by. Our own bodies may feel beyond our control, or we may feel disconnected to them. We may desire change but don't know how to create it. If we feel shame or self-doubt, we may have difficulty finding our voice, our community, or our life’s work. Managing and making sense out of what we’re feeling or thinking sometimes is too much to carry alone. When we know it's time for the way we're feeling or thinking to shift, and we want more health, creativity, and joy in our lives, it's time to invest in ourselves and our wellbeing.

You're sure the average therapist can't handle or accept you, because that's what you get everywhere else you go. School, work, almost everywhere, it's been an uphill struggle to fit in and feel understood -- IF you even bother anymore. If you DO find YOUR people, YOUR tribe, you spend the whole time secretly terrified they'll figure out you're not good enough and kick you out. You've been burned a few too many times, which just reinforces your belief that you'll never belong. All that rejection and pain sits in your body and spirit, grinding you down every day. But there's still part of you that believes you can find your place.

Accepting new clients for scheduling 7/6/26 or after! Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just like a bit of a mystery to yourself, I’m glad you’re here. I believe therapy should feel less like a clinical appointment and more like a curious exploration of your inner world. I aim for a warm, honest, and wholehearted approach- conversations where you can kick off your shoes, be yourself, and not worry about being "too much" or "too messy." My experience over the past decade has been across settings including hospital, crisis response, in-home, and outpatient therapy supporting adolescents, adults, and families.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
