Life is hard, sometimes! Therapy provides you with that extra support as well as the opportunity to grow, evolve and learn new ways to cope with life's challenges. I believe the trust and rapport built between a client and therapist forms the foundation of all progress made in therapy. This relationship supports increasing awareness of the present, identifying what is no longer working, setting long term goals and taking small steps toward those goals. Building a life based in vitality, hope and an increased capacity for joy rather than one filled with suffering, avoidance and futility.

I believe personal agency is key to finding meaning in distressing scenarios and growing from them. I use both Existential and solution-oriented approaches when engaging with clients and provide individuals, couples, and families with tools for self-awareness and self-empowerment through a mixture of theoretical models tailored to the client’s strengths and needs. I work to help clients establish more adaptive patterns of thinking with humor, empathy, and respect. While I will explore root causes of issues, I emphasize the importance of personal growth and identifying personal strengths.

I am currently accepting new clients. I see women and men (18+) dealing with anxiety, depression, relationships / dating, career concerns, and other challenges. Here, your individuality and complexity will be respected. You are the expert about your own experiences. Still, life can be overwhelming and accepting help can make a difference. Counseling can help you get "unstuck" and feel more self-empowered. Collaboratively, we can explore options that resonate with you. Therapy is your time.

I AM NOT THE SMILE AND NOD THERAPIST! If you are fed up with feeling miserable I can help you get the life you want. I love helping people achieve what they didn't think they could. My clients tell me I am tough but they know I care about them. I work best with people who are sick of being unhappy and willing to DO work to make some changes. I have a great BS detector, I will call you on your stuff and we will laugh (a lot)! I am passionate about therapy and assissting people in reaching their goals. I work best with people who are ready for change and want a more active approach to therapy.

Are you contemplating therapy? Asking yourself if you really need it? The decision to participate in therapy is very personal and rarely straightforward. The majority of clients I work with are competent, well-functioning individuals who are struggling in some way or are feeling dissatisfied, unhappy, or stuck. Whether it's regarding a past experience, your everyday life, your relationship, fears about the future, or something more devastating or extraordinary, therapy can help.

Individuals find their way to therapy for many reasons. Perhaps you are suffering the stress of a relationship breakup, loss of a job, death of a loved one or parenting pressures. Or, maybe you've decided it's time to address a long-standing issue that is interfering with life satisfaction. It could be as specific as an unresolved childhood trauma or as general as nagging doubts about your self-worth or a feeling that you're not living your life in ways consistent with your core beliefs.

I work alongside those experiencing life transitions, identity concerns, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, ADHD, autism, religious trauma and substance abuse issues. Sometimes what we need is to express ourselves in a compassionate, non-judgemental space to talk about inner experiences, as well as process and recognize opportunities for change. In speaking about our concerns, rather than keeping them to ourselves, we can slow down and re-examine our lives. Examples of goals for therapy can include increased self-awareness, acceptance, learning new ways of being and re-evaluating or reframing thought patterns.

My approach is simple. I see my role as a partner in a process that is the pursuit of healing and restoration. While I have certain professional expertise, every client is an expert about his/her/their own life. I am intentionally client-centered, strengths based and trauma-informed. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary means of intervention which includes an eclectic blend of Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic and other modalities. Assigned homework is common and clients participate in the development of activities that support clearly identified treatment plan goals.

How can I find a therapist in 55343?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
