You spend so much of your energy being strong for everyone else that your own needs fade into the background. On the outside you appear composed, but inside you feel worn down by anxiety, grief, or old experiences that still echo in your daily life. You keep moving, keep helping, keep holding everything together, yet the weight stays with you. Asking for support feels unfamiliar because you have always been the one others turn to. Deep down, you long for a space where you can slow down, be yourself, and feel understood without judgment.

I offer a sliding fee scale with pro-bono options available! Navigating questions of identity and gender can be both deeply personal and profoundly transformative. My work centers on creating an affirming space for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-questioning individuals or anyone exploring who they are and where they feel most themselves. Having spent time in a fraternity, I learned just how easily identity can get tangled up in stereotypes about masculinity and belonging. Therapy offers a space to untangle those expectations and rediscover a sense of authenticity.

Are you the strong friend that nobody checks in on? You show up, get things done, and on the outside it looks like you have it together. But inside, it’s a different story. You feel heavy, and numb, and like you're just going through the motions. The sadness creeps in quietly, or maybe it hits you all at once. Either way, it’s exhausting. You feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand and weighed down by things from the past that still feel painfully close. Some days, it’s hard to even name what’s wrong. You just know you feel off, alone, and tired. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

Clients come to Mosaic Psychological Assessment, to find answers to a broad range of questions, such as what diagnosis makes sense for them (e.g., ADHD, Depression, etc.) to questions about what is making them feel stuck in their forward progress in life, in therapy, in relationships, at work, or in school. What does the mosaic of your life look like? What are each of the small tiles that add up to the picture of who you are now? What would you like to change?

You are strong and courageous to not only acknowledge that change is needed but to take the steps to achieve it. Change is hard, especially when you are uncertain of who to trust to walk with you through the process. I believe that everyone has the ability to make changes if only they are provided with a nurturing and empowering environment that fosters strengths, passions and builds hope for the future. You deserve to be heard, understood and acknowledged while expecting a therapist who is honest, genuine, comfortable sharing observations and insights and challenges exploration and growth with compassion and without judgement.

As you browse profiles looking for the right therapist, you will find many leading with their degrees, training and hopes that they have just the right 'cure' for what you're facing. I look at therapy and being a therapist slightly different. I don't want to imply or assume that I know more about being you than you do. I don't want to imply or assume that I know what's right or best for you. You already have that information and knowledge. My job is to help you uncover it.

Accepting New Clients! Vulnerability is an act of bravery. But being brave isn’t easy when you do it alone. And it’s especially difficult when your brain is telling you that you aren’t good enough, worthy, or important. Maybe your mind has convinced you that if you wash your hands, google that medical condition for hours, or stop thinking that thought, the fears and anxiety will go away. Perhaps by changing the way you eat, you can “fix it.” For some, being who you are is challenging or even not allowed, because those around you do not understand or approve.

You have done the hardest part, showing up for yourself, and acknowledging that you are important. Therapy is not easy, and finding the space to connect and/ or reconnect to your self exploration and personal reflection is a gentle process. We as individuals shift all the time, and I believe in the ability to sit in discomfort, process emotions and experiences, while creating steps for growth, transition, and change. The ability to become more secure and confident in yourself, while learning your own personal patterns that may impact attachment, communication, and coping skills, and wanting to grow through each stage.

I believe therapy is not a “one-size fits all” approach, and that all individuals and families are unique in their experiences. Therefore, therapy is going to look different for each person and family. While many individuals seek support to address personal concerns, I focus on the individual within the context of a system to help address those concerns. I highlight how the systems we are all a part of (family, school, work, community) impact us, and how viewing ourselves as a product of our systems can promote the positive change we desire.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
