Empathetic. Compassionate. Accepting. Although I am not perfect, this is who I strive to be both in and out of the counseling room. The counseling room is your safe space to explore the conditions that are causing you to seek counseling. In counseling, I take a holistic approach, meaning attention is given to wellness in body, mind, and soul. From a person-centered perspective, I believe you are the expert on your own life, so we will collaborate to help you reach your goals. My goal is to help you move toward a better state of mental health and wellness. It would be an honor to walk alongside you on this part of your journey.

I understand that therapy doesn't have to be a life-long process but it can help significantly when you are going through difficult circumstances that create worry, anger or a feeling of being at a loss. Stress seems to be an indicator that issues need to be addressed. I am a therapist who believes that my clients have many of the answers to their problems, I am there to help them through the journey to uncover what the answers are.

We learn who we are and what we have to offer from a lifetime of relationships, both good and bad. Everyone experiences relationships that create festering messages/beliefs that burrow into our souls, leading to internal and external pain. We often forget the importance of personal value and worth within relationships, and the results vary from bitterness, anger, depression, anxiety, addiction, etc. Furthermore, we can get so caught up our anxieties, fears, and pain, that we forget to hold onto and pour into the relationships that provide support, leaving us isolated in our suffering.

Much of my clinical work is assisting people who want help with intimate relationships. Often, that means facilitating communication in families or romantic relationships. Sometimes it means helping individuals process their side of a current or past relationship or helping them explore the question “What do I want and need from a partner? And why?”

You’re the one carrying the emotional load in the relationship. You try to talk, but it turns into a fight—or worse, you’re met with silence. You miss the closeness you once had, and you’re tired of the same painful patterns on repeat. Maybe you’re in a relationship where cultural or personality differences that once felt exciting now feel like roadblocks. You just want to feel understood, connected, and respected again. You want peace—but not at the cost of your truth.

It can be painful and frustrating to feel trapped in a cycle of behaviors, thoughts, or relationships that don't represent the person we want to be. I believe that one of the most challenging things in life is to simultaneously love and accept ourselves as we are while also acknowledging a need or desire for change. I believe that a perspective rooted in faith can help us to do this.

Despite being a professional by day, you have no idea how your life at home started feeling so chaotic and out of control. You and your partner don’t communicate like you used to and you certainly don’t have fun together anymore. Life is consumed by kids, sports, work, and errands. You aren’t having as much sex as you used to either. It feels like you lost yourself along the way and you don’t feel heard or understood by your partner when you try to talk. Things always end up in a fight. You’re exhausted and irritable and you feel alone. Friends and family mean well but they don’t get it. Not really. You need help.

I have a heart and a passion for working with women, especially with those in the healthcare field. I have experience and enjoy working with doctors, nurses, counselors, psychologists, mothers, military members, ministers, and those who serve in a caretaker role of some capacity. I understand the challenges that come with being a caregiver or service member and needing help ourselves.

In my clinical work, I am passionate about supporting couples and individuals in deep, curious, emotion driven work. If you are a person searching for a stronger connection in your relationship, cautiously optimistic about exploring new parts of yourself, or cracking open the can of worms that is generational trauma, I am so ready to meet you. I want to come alongside you, talk about it all, and support you in exploring all the corners of your being through new experiential lenses like art, movement, and nature...even animal assisted if you need some puppy love to coax out those challenging emotions.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
