People and families wishing to feel closer and heal past hurts, look to Michael to lead them through those conversations. Children, teens, couples and families come to Michael to help with their thoughts, feelings and relationships. I see anyone within Wisconsin via telehealth - rural or urban, no more being put on the waiting list. I validate and encourage you to become aware of the coping strategies that do not serve you, such as avoidance, numbing, and not showing up for yourself. In the now, we explore how one may be stuck in the past or the future and unable to make healthy choices for today.

I'm Libby, a licensed Psychotherapist in Wisconsin and Texas, committed to guiding individuals on their path to mental wellness. I offer compassionate, evidence-based care with a focus on anxiety, depression, and family trauma. As a Black female therapist, I understand the stigma surrounding mental health in Black and Brown communities, shaped by cultural representation and the fear of sharing personal stories. The biggest challenge is SILENCE! Many people suffer in isolation, continuing unhealthy generational patterns. My mission is to break these cycles by fostering a supportive environment for healing.

Having borderline personality disorder can feel excruciating. Relationships are scary and unpredictable, and like you might not survive another rejection. Sometimes things feel amazing and sometimes they feel so bad you don’t even want to be alive. It can be hard to find a therapist who understands, and who has the training to work with your specific needs. Together, we can work towards feeling more confident, peaceful, and sure of who you are.

Perhaps you and your partner want to explore consensual non-monogamy/polyamory or are fully entrenched in it, and you’re curious about how to navigate some choppy waters. Maybe you are a person dealing with the fall-out from divorce or a break-up, or you’re a couple struggling to “speak each other’s language” and be vulnerable. Maybe there's the nagging question of "Is what I'm experiencing really abuse?" Uncovering and processing trauma is necessary in order to fully understand how and why you show up in your life. Maybe you're feeling shame about sex and/or your sexuality... Perhaps labels only tell a tiny part of your story!

Do you feel overwhelmed by the weight of the world or stuck in a pattern that is not serving you? Have you ever been told that you are too sensitive? If you are hoping to find more meaning in your life and create more of a balance I would love to help you walk through this process. Focusing on strengths, encouraging creativity, and emphasizing the brain/body connection are important factors in finding an authentic balance. "Creativity, which is the expression of our originality, helps us stay mindful that what we bring to the world is completely original and cannot be compared." -Brene Brown

I firmly believe in the possibility and power of personal change. And having a little support or guidance along the way!  Therapy can be as simple as having an hour to talk about you with a good listener.  It can also mean digging deep into family issues, attachment patterns, and current interpersonal relationships.  Perhaps you want to learn strategies for reducing anxiety.  Or discover why that co-worker brings out so much stress and what to do about it… I first like to learn about your goals - what are you hiring me for?  Then we’ll develop a plan to work together toward them.

Michael Scott from The Office once said "Society teaches us that having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well, that's baloney, because grief isn't wrong. There's such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown." As a therapist, I would agree with Michael and add that all feelings are right and good and meaningful but sometimes we can get stuck in negative thought patterns, relationship conflicts, painful feelings or avoidance strategies. We sometimes need help to create and develop new tools for handling those difficult thoughts or situations.

Life altering experiences can cause us to feel physically and emotionally unsafe leading us to ruminate on the past, overthink and worry about the future, and expect something bad to happen. Daily tasks can become difficult, and sometimes talking feels like it makes things worse. Imagine feeling secure, safe, and enjoying every day things without worrying about what’s next. It is possible to find a way to accept things as they are, reconnect with the people you care about, and enjoy the things that mean the most to you. Please note I currently only have evening availability.

I utilize an existential-humanistic approach which goes above symptom reduction and helps with understanding and developing new ways to experience self, others, and the world. This approach encourages introspection, self-reflection, and assists an individual with increasing self-awareness, self-knowledge, and opportunities for choice where they once felt frustrated, stuck, and hopeless. In addition, I specialize in cross-cultural issues, acculturation/racial diversity, and racial identity.
