Do you experience shame and anxiety? Is it difficult for you to prioritize yourself? Do you struggle with managing the "hats" you wear? Do you struggle with managing big, intense emotions? Are you experiencing relational conflict with a family member, child, or partner? Therapy is a place where an individual is able to explore difficulties without bias or judgement. People often find that having an outside, professional perspective allows them the freedom to work through life's difficulties while promoting self-esteem, confidence, healing, and personal growth.

Therapy is a place for you to name areas of pain, a place to feel without judgment, and a place to reclaim what is yours. Shame is the source of so much of this pain and judgment, convincing you that you are broken. Shame is often so intertwined with sexuality because of the societal silence around the topic. Perhaps sex is painful, perhaps you are more aware of others desires than your own, perhaps you feel empty from running on fumes and enjoyment is the last thing on your mind. Whatever the reason, engaging your sexual health can help overall wellness, and ultimately be the way back into relationship with yourself!

I am interested in the challenges and advantages of what it means to be highly sensitive or an empath. As a therapist, I am drawn to those who tend to struggle with issues like depression, life transitions/change, worry, anxiety, perfectionism, rumination, social anxiety, self-doubt, shame, and feelings of meaninglessness. I am here to help you through your challenges and provide support. My approach is to non-judgmentally understand what drives the behaviors that seem so difficult to change. I am dedicated to establishing an authentic, intentional, and trusting relationship.

Many individuals seek professional guidance for various reasons related to their feelings, thoughts, difficulty with life changes and stressors, a loss, death, or ending of a relationship, as well as important issues that have been on their minds. Often feelings of guilt, shame, anger, or self doubt may result in a cyclical pattern w/ feelings of being “stuck.” In some situations it’s not enough to talk over the issues with family members or friends. Seeking a new perspective from an objective professional is a means to allow oneself to be curious, to develop more insight, and to learn that the resolutions reside within themselves.

I enjoy working with clients who aim to live their life in congruence with their values. They may notice themselves making decisions over and over again and think, “Why am I doing this? This isn’t me.” I appreciate when people put themselves out there and reflect on how to get unstuck.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
