One thing I know (and bet you do too) is that life is hard. I’ve heard hundreds of unique versions of this over my years as a therapist, where living life gets lost in the pain and struggle of the "hard.” That’s why it's so great you're here, taking the first step toward overcoming the barriers to living YOUR most meaningful life. I specialize in individual therapy for adults (18+) impacted by trauma, anxiety, and depression. I’m experienced with often-related issues including relationship problems, loneliness, self-criticism and self-worth problems, binge/emotional eating, emotion dysregulation, stress, grief, and sleep problems.

We have all been through difficulties and transitions where we seek a sense of strength and healing. Therapy is a way of exploring struggles and developing strengths and coping strategies while enriching life by integrating the mind, body, and spirit to achieve a greater sense of purpose and meaning. It is my goal to walk a path with you in a non-judgmental, accepting, and empathetic atmosphere to help you discover and utilize your strengths, overcome barriers, and achieve mental wellness.

After undergrad I moved to North Carolina where I received my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Marriage and Family Counseling. I was licensed in NC for two years prior to making the decision to move back to Iowa. I work with all ages, but primarily focus on ages 10 years or older, and I am comfortable with working with most diagnoses. I am a CBT therapist that will also at times use a Solution-Focused and DBT approach. I remind clients who are searching for a therapist, “Therapist are like shoes. We do not fit you all. You need to make sure you find your right fit”.

It is my belief that the greatest changes a person can make in life are done through the relationship between the therapist and the client. Joining with the clients I work with on their journey is truly a rewarding experience. It is my goal to help individuals understand and overcome the unique barriers in life through empathy, acceptance and unconditional positive regard. I believe that true change can come by using the individual's strengths and positive attributes along with humor to assist clients in achieving their unique goals.

Are you experiencing grief, loss, or trauma? Feeling disconnected, alone, or stuck in painful emotions? Struggling with relationships, addiction, or unresolved wounds from childhood? If so, I can help. Trauma often manifests in mysterious ways that can feel overwhelming— leading to anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship struggles, isolation, and shame. These challenges can make it difficult to care for ourselves and maintain meaningful connections.
