My compassion for all beings began long ago and has been the cornerstone of my personal and professional life. It is the compelling reason I practice counseling. I am profoundly aware of the vast amounts of suffering we all experience throughout our lives. Experiencing and releasing this pain is the goal. I believe in the emergence of self knowledge, positive energy and right action as fear and resistance are diminished. I prefer not to label conditions and symptoms ,but strive to fully understand and appreciate the individual sitting before me.

I am a Limited Licensed Psychologist specializing in EMDR Therapy.  I use EMDR to treat the impacts of traumatic events, PTSD, grief, anger, and addictions including substance and sexual addictions. I primarily work with Veterans and First Responders, and individuals on the front lines of taking care of others. When you face the dangers of the world head-on on a daily basis, asking for help may feel counterintuitive. At the same time, avoiding problems, thinking they will get better on their own, or denial of their existance (despite the evidence) is a guaranteed path to less-than-ideal outcomes.

Life is full of challenges, which at times, may seem overwhelming. I applaud your courage as you take the first step towards personal growth and empowerment by reaching out for help. I believe we all deserve to feel heard and to experience authentic connection with someone. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel empowered and motivated to create positive change in your life. Sometimes we get stuck in patterns and need help to get back in touch with the most important relationship---the one we have with ourselves. This takes trust, support, time and accountability. My role as a therapist is as both a guide and as a witness, helping you to explore and overcome barriers to living fully by drawing upon your own strengths.

I specialize in recovery from trauma, substance use disorders, depression, and anxiety. I also work with mood disorders, self-esteem, and other life stressors. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I believe that therapy is a partnership. It is your life, your well-being, and your healing. It can overflow with excessive rainfall or dry up with no moisture. It can be shallow or deep. I believe in times of darkness the light is found within. Counseling can help you find peace inside yourself so that your river may never stop flowing. The counseling process is unique to every individual and is designed to encourage maximum growth within a supportive environment. I’ve learned that all individuals have strengths that they can build upon, and I’m here to encourage and empower each person I work with to conquer their fears, address past issues, and take the first step towards wellness and self-growth. I believe healing for my clients will come through their hard work and motivation coupled with my training, caring, and giving. I am authentic when I say I have a warm and genuine passion for helping my clients achieve their goals. Intuition tells me I must know my clients’ stories, understand what societal concerns they may have, and be cognizant of underlying issues they face daily.

I work with children, teens, and adults who have been through a traumatic experience, and other changes throughout life. I work to help you or your child process those changes, support the family system, and help regulate through those challenging behaviors. Through play, connection, and relationship building I use evidence-based practices to help support my clients where their needs are at.

Trauma is defined differently by everyone and NO ONE understands what you are going through like you do. As a therapist trained in EMDR I can use my knowledge to help you process life experiences and provide realistic tools to manage reactions caused by trauma. I have previous work experience in healthcare and I enjoy working with teenagers, adults, and couples. My training and work experience include individuals with histories of complex trauma, personality disorders, trauma affiliated with a religion, addiction(s), grief, sexual health, and medical trauma.
