As you know, life's twists and turns can take you by surprise. Talking to a counselor may give you the perspective of what hasn't been working in the past and how you want to see your future. During sessions, together, we listen to the past but look at moving forward. Many of the issues in my office consist of those with depression, anxiety, trauma (ex. rape and abuse), and grief and loss. I take a mixed theory approach using Client Centered (Rogerian) theory, Cognitive Behavioral Theory as well as Solution Focus theory.
Many of my clients have depression and anxiety. There is a noticeable difference in the levels once one starts talking to a counselor. I have experience with cancer patients and families of those who have cancer. I have led many support groups dealing with current cancer issues.
Everyone should have a chance to get help. While I can't take all insurances, I do accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. Also, for those that don't have BCBS, I have a sliding scale and have priced myself in a place where most who want help can get the help without it being a financial pull.
