My approach to therapy is to walk along side my client in a caring and nonjudgmental manner. I believe everyone has a story and when we listen we understand and are better able to assist with their emotional hurts. Everyone has struggles but it's much easier to work through them with a supportive hand. I am here to help you recognize your strengths and build on them until they are more prevalent than your distress. My education started with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Indiana University and a Master's in Social Work from Simmons School of Social Work.

Life circumstances can become overwhelming and long term therapy is too slow. You need help now. I use actively accelerated therapies and focus on short term solutions and your emotional health. Many people see results in days instead of weeks. Fear anxiety and depression robs us of happiness. My approach of client centered counseling helps you to work through problems, rediscover you strengths and to meet you true wants, needs and desires.

Glennon Doyle says, "Be messy and complicated and afraid and show up anyway." It can be really scary to reach out for help when you're feeling stuck, when you're feeling out of control, or when you simply don't like who or what you see in the mirror. This is the part where I humbly invite you to take the leap and be vulnerable. Whether you're a child dealing with behavioral or emotional difficulties, a teen dealing with anxiety or depression, or an adult dealing with the general messiness of life - I am here for you and I believe things can get better.

There are so many reasons to seek therapy, from feeling stuck, hopeless, anxious, having difficulty making decisions or managing stress, relationship issues, addictions, childhood trauma....the list goes on and on.  Sometimes it is simply knowing you are capable of more than you are able to be at the moment.  My aim is to provide a structured, safe space for you to explore what is getting in the way of you being the person you want to be and living the life you want to live. I will work with you to identify the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are getting in the way of living a life that aligns with your values and goals.

I believe that all of us have some struggle with being addicted to something in life, if we are honest with ourselves. I have found that this develops out of a desire to numb emotional pain that we have not been able to work through. I read recently that 80% of us have experienced some type of trauma and have not worked through that underlying pain causing us to find ways to suppress it. In doing so we develop relational problems internally which then manifest with our family, our work, friends and others.

I work best with people who are open to growth and self-awareness. Individuals who want meaningful connections that include healthy attachments and “loving space”. People who can integrate their past with peace and dignity. Clients who can discuss gritty topics and take risks. My favorite clients are those who are blunt and real, because I am too. People who feel broken and dysfunctional yet still hang on. I want to show you how to get past the heartache, pain, and trauma that has held you back.

As a therapist I have a passion to help people heal from difficult experiences. Using an integrative approach I work with people to resolve issues that interfere with their ability to live with self-acceptance and peace of mind. This integrative system allows people to organize aspects of their personalities into a coordinated harmonious whole.

And it seems like such a shame, because you want to be closer if only you could figure out how. If you have the energy and desire, then we can almost always find a way. Give me a call or send me an e-mail and we can talk about what might be possible.

Are you feeling depressed and anxious? Are you afraid of people and focus on pleasing others? Do you judge yourself harshly? Do you "stuff" your feelings? Do your relationships fail? Are you in an abusive relationship? I may be able to help. While we grow into adulthood, negative messages told to us by others develop into beliefs about who we are and how we relate to people. Today, these beliefs can affect your life in profound ways. You may feel ashamed and don't want others to know the "real me." Therapy can empower you to improve your life.

*Both teletherapy and in-person visits offered* I focus mainly on Eating Disorder treatment, and I always have a heart for healing the relationship with food and your body. I also enjoy working with couples and families to repair difficult or hurtful relationships with those you love. I view my clients not as hopeless or crazy, but simply as genuine people going through a rough time in their life, who need a little help finding their path. With patience and understanding, I can help you find yours too, using an Adlerian framework and teaching skills grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

How can I find a therapist in 46516?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
