Welcome to Transitional Life Counseling! We are located at the Mindfully Well Center, an integrative health and wellness center. Our goal is to empower you to reach your optimal health and lead a life that is balanced and enriched from the inside out. After 22 years of experience in mental health and wellness, first as a community mental health counselor and now as a psychologist, I have adopted an integrative approach to mental health, one that utilizes our tools of assessment to clearly identify your strengths, followed by the development of an individualized plan to include various modalities to help you reach your optimal potential.

The purpose of my work is help empower individuals to gain fresh insight and perspective. Many of my clients find themselves stuck when they are facing an unexpected transition, a loss, or just need a change in their lives. I work together with individuals, couples and families to create goals that are realistic and challenging so that they might lead more peaceful, fulfilling lives and have meaningful relationships.

I am a graduate of The University of Akron with a Master’s of Education in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have experience working with adolescents, individuals, couples and families. I also have a passion for providing a safe space for mental health professionals seeking their own services. I am trained in EMDR, DBT, CBT, Dancing Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. I am able to assist with trauma, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, anger management and relationship issues. Self-awareness to know when to contact a counselor for therapy is the first step to reaching your goal. My ideal client is someone dealing with intrusive mental health issues that are impeding their ability to function in their daily lives. The client is seeking help with coping skills and relief from intrusive mental thoughts you are unable to escape. I provide diagnostic assessment and treatment for adult populations with a broad range of mental health disorders, specializing in the treatment of anxiety and trauma-related disorders. My goals for all patients are two-fold: 1) to help mitigate symptoms in the immediate using cognitive-behavioral strategies and 2) to help patients identify and overcome unhelpful behavioral and relational patterns for long-term symptom reduction and life enhancement.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio, and have experience working with teens and adults through individual and family therapy. I have worked extensively with families experiencing conflict with their teenage child, and I also specialize in treating mood disorders, anxiety, family conflict, postpartum and infertility issues, and trauma. I am trained in providing EMDR therapy. This therapy provides a way to heal from trauma or distressing experiences.

In addition to working on social skills and behavior management with clients and their families, Sarah has extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, art therapy and play therapy to help children who've been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. Empowering children to navigate the every day stressors that accompany mental health issues is Sarah's priority.

I am a licensed psychologist with extensive training and experience in helping individuals work through a variety of challenges. I use a strength-based, person centered, integrated approach, working collaboratively to identify, clarify, and create meaningful treatment goals. I work to meet individuals where they are, with the understanding that you are the expert of your own experience. I draw from a variety of evidence-based methodologies to create a unique therapeutic experience for each individual. Currently training in EMDR Therapy (Part 1 complete).
