I believe in meeting each client where they’re at currently and taking time to understand each person’s unique story. You may come to a spot where you feel stuck in your story and unable to move forward. You find yourself feeling overwhelmed, burdened, and have difficulty connecting with others. I aim to create a safe & non-judgmental space for client's to participate in healing conversations. That space starts with a therapeutic relationship built on trust and acceptance, no matter who you are or what you are going through. I believe counseling is a brave step toward overall wellness, and my passion is to work alongside my clients.

I believe that counseling is an opportunity to talk with someone you can connect with in a safe environment without fear of judgment. There are a variety of issues that people face on a daily basis. Sometimes those life issues can become too burdensome to deal with on your own. This is where I come in. I am particularly interested in helping clients who are dealing with: Depression, Anxiety, Marriage/Family, Pre-Marital Counseling, Self-Esteem, Divorce, Grief, Job and School Stressors. I find it a privilege to be able to walk alongside those who are seeking out assistance in their journey.

I believe in an individualized approach for every client and working with you to determine the best methodology to get you where you want to be. I will help you tell your life story, and will work with you to find insight and meaning for the future. While on your journey, you will find that I can offer and link you with additional resources to empower you beyond the therapy room. Finally, if a relationship with me as a therapist is not working, I encourage my clients to be open and honest so that we can get them on the correct path to healing.

It is essential to be non judgemental and objective in working with any client. I've seen clients with various problems and conditions in my years of practice. It is important to help clients who present specific life problems to help them look at the pros and cons of their problem and help them to then make a decision as to what to do to solve their difficulties. I do give direct advice sometimes where this is applicable. In my session with a client, I allow them time to express and explain the problem and needs and time to ask them questions and clarify.

As a licensed professional counselor (LPC) I feel it's important to empower clients by giving them the tools to meet their personal goals. Throughout life we go through life experiences where we may feel powerless or not in control, but we do have control over how we cope or react to life circumstances. By offering a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental place to guide clients through their healing process I hope to inspire confidence and the innate resiliency that I believe is in each of us.

I have been practicing for over 35 years and still love the process of engaging with clients who desire to grow, improve their lives, and/or solve their problems through therapy. Assisting people during times of crisis, transition, personal struggle, trauma resolution, and family problems is what I do best as a psychologist. In addition I have worked hard to build a Practice involving many other therapists who have the same mission. My husband, Dave Zachau, who is also a therapist, and I have devoted our lives to helping others and building our community based Practice.

A lot of times therapists are asked to describe their "ideal client" and what this person would need and what they would want to work on. Honestly, my "ideal client" would be either an individual, couple or family who WANTS to get better, who WANTS to make changes to see progress and who WANTS to live a happier life while rebuilding their system. My "ideal client" would be someone who recognizes that being challenged and encouraged to leave their comfort zone knows that the reward is so much greater than the risk.
