If you’re navigating a toxic or difficult relationship, you may feel like you’re trying to find yourself again while also grieving what’s been lost. It can be confusing how someone can make you feel both deeply connected and disconnected at the same time. If you’re trying to grow your family, you may feel exhausted, unsure, and living in that constant gray space—sometimes losing hope, sometimes filled with it. You may also want to connect with your partner, but fertility struggles, intimacy challenges, or sexual disconnect can make that feel impossible.

I believe in self-determination (choice) and the natural process of growth. I will, therefore, assist your growth/change process by providing you with education, support and honest feedback. Because I prefer to examine issues from a holistic perspective, I will discuss the integration of your strengths as they relate to the five life domains: emotional, mental, physical, relational and spiritual.

Creating successful relationships and lives as an adolescent, adult or couple is one of the central challenges we all face. I am a Gestalt based psychotherapist who works to help clients discover their potential and explore the blocks that may be getting in their way. My work starts with the premise that each of us has within us what we need to live grounded and fulfilling lives. My goal with clients is to help them build awareness to what is occurring in the moment as a springboard for potential change. Through process oriented therapy, I believe we all can get through challenges that emerge in life.

You're not okay, and you're tired of pretending you are. Maybe it's anxiety you can't outrun, depression that won't lift, or the weight of something you went through that still shapes the way you move through your days. You've tried to push through. You've tried to think your way out. What you might not have tried is sitting down with someone whose only job, in that hour, is to help you understand what's actually happening—and to work through it with you, at your pace. Together we'll untangle the struggles, ease what's been weighing on you, and help your life start to feel like something you're living, not just getting through it.

Have you always believed you were self-sufficient, able to handle any and all challenges which come your way? Are you usually the person family and friends rely on for advice or directions on how to solve their life issues? But, now you need help resolving issues of your own and your feelings of anxiety, depression and or stress are negatively impacting the relationships in your life. Being able to acknowledge that your life has become overwhelming can be the first and hardest step when beginning a journey of change and healing. The next most challenging step involves trying to determine what to do to get the help you need.

Hi, I'm Jenise. I’ve been a therapist for over 20 years and work with preteens, teens, and adults. One of my strengths is my ability to genuinely connect with the people I work with. I feel fortunate to be in a field I care deeply about and can’t imagine doing anything else. Your trauma, your history, your struggles, or your mental health challenges do not define you. You don’t have to face them alone.

If you have been struggling with depression and have not found a satisfactory solution through the use of medication or standard therapies, I am interested in getting to know you. Analytical Psychology is a school of psychology founded by C. G. Jung in Zurich, Switzerland and brought to the United States by M. Esther Harding, M.D., among others, in the 1930s. It provides a unique perspective on depression and frames an alternative approach to its treatment.

Many people who come to me feel weighed down by trauma, anxiety, or relational wounds. They may notice patterns of freeze, overwhelm, or disconnection and long to feel safer, more present, and more alive in themselves and their relationships. They want to move beyond old survival patterns that keep them stuck and discover new ways of being. Together we slow down, listen to the body, and create space for strength, connection, and choice to emerge, so life feels less about surviving and more about living with greater wholeness, trust, and ease.

I view therapy as a journey, helping to align the inner and outer worlds of individuals through non-judgement, authenticity, and positive regard. In doing so, I value the interpersonal and relational process and strive to help individuals empower themselves and bring harmony to their environment. I find that the urge to reach out, to help people find strength in, with and through their fragility and societal limitations drives my therapeutic work.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
