As a therapist, I believe early intervention is key. Children are growing up in this big world we live in and are expected to know how to regulate their emotions, utilize and explore coping skills, and communicate their wants and needs safely. These skills must be taught, explored, and nurtured throughout the entirety of their life. My goal as a therapist is to set my client’s up for future success by assisting them in developing healthy coping strategies and strengthening their communication skills. I wish to provide a safe space for them to make mistakes, grow, and have fun learning new skills.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Kentucky, and provide individual counseling (adults 18 and over) for residents of the Lexington and surrounding Bluegrass KY area. I work from a Cognitive-Behavioral therapeutic framework integrated within a Biblical-Christian foundation.

I believe therapy is most helpful when it combines introspection and self-discovery with planning and action. My goal as a therapist is to assist my client in exploring the "stuff" that seems to be getting in the way in his or her life. Once we know what the roadblocks are, they become easier to navigate or overcome. This work often leads to new personal insights or changes that serve to bring you closer to your personal goals.

My goal as a therapist is to help children learn skills that will help them to feel happy with themselves, feel trust and happiness in their relationships, and feel confident in their place in their world. My approach will be to meet the client where they are and to match them with the treatment model that best fits with them.

I have been in practice since 1999, when I received my MSW from the University of Kentucky. My work has been with families and children in multiple settings, with particular focus on trauma informed care. I am comfortable with family interventions as well as working with individuals. I have always enjoyed working with children and knew that I wanted to work with children and their families in some capacity. This work has been in a variety of settings, in patient, in-home, and outpatient and in school. I have completed the training for Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and understand how trauma impacts an individual.

I counsel an array of emotional and behavioral aspects including ADHD/ADD, depression, anxiety, anger management, men's issues, relationship issues, health challenges and substance abuse. I believe that people can change and grow throughout their lifespan. Counseling can facilitate self understanding as well as understanding of others. My clients range from adults and older adolescents dealing with individual life challenges, to couples dealing with relationship issues, and seniors adjusting to changes and challenges.
