I believe life has meaning and we can find it. I believe in strong individuals, couples, and families who can learn to live life in honesty and contentment. I also know that working through life's issues/obstacles takes time and I want to help you on your journey towards wholeness and fulfillment.

Sometimes life can be hard. We can get trapped living in the problem rather than the solution. Let's work together to make the changes you want. Although I enjoy working with all client types, my specialty is addiction. I particularly enjoy working with adolescent and young adult males who are struggling with "failure to launch" issues as they make the transition to becoming responsible adults. My motto is "people will not care how much you know until they know how much you care." Building a positive client/therapist relationship sets the basis for growth. There are a lot of very good therapists in Louisville. I am one of them.

My ideal client is someone who recognizes the need for change in their life, but may not know how to go about it to produce positive results. I treat adults and teens who are struggling with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and relationship /situationship issues. In addition, cultivating self-awareness and figuring out what goals you have is a big part of therapy no matter what you come in with and is something everyone could benefit from. Being open to talk about hard things is difficult, but also very brave. I see it as a privilege to get to work with those who are ready to make that step in a safe validating environment.

I work with people whose minds, bodies, or relationships seem to have developed a life of their own. People whose lives have become progressively narrowed by the way their nervous system has learned to protect them. Maybe your brain won’t stop doubting. Maybe your body won’t stop hurting. Whatever the struggle or reason, people often find themselves caught in patterns that seemed to once make sense but now seem to run the show. My role is to help you respond to them, experiment with new ways of adapting, and create experiences that gradually open the door to greater freedom, flexibility, and a life that feels more like your own.

Life's transitions and changes can be difficult -- especially on top of the everyday stresses you are already experiencing! Transitions can be challenging, even when you choose them (marriage, children, a new job, retirement, etc.) Transitions that are imposed on you can be even more difficult (divorce, cancer, job loss, aging parents, infidelity, or grief from the death of a friend, spouse, partner, or parent.) Facing any of these can be difficult. Facing several at the same time can be overwhelming! These experiences can have devastating effects on your health, your happiness, and your ability to feel hope.

Even in the 21st century, "having issues" still carries a stigma. Therapists are here to help you make your life better, but we are still not fully understood by the public. I'm guilty of not understanding dentists. I went to the dentist "only when" the pain was so bad I couldn't stand it, or "only when" I had to have a tooth yanked. Only in mid-life, after years of misery, did I understand dentists as being real doctors. Now, I respect the connection between healthy gums and healthy heart and I spare myself the prolonged anguish.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or stretched thin from being the one others rely on - whether at work, in your family, or in your relationships. On the outside, you may appear composed, while privately feeling drained, second-guessing yourself, or unsure how to set boundaries without guilt. I work with women who often feel responsible for others and are ready to stop carrying so much on their own. My approach is calm, grounded, and centered on creating a steady space where you can better understand your needs, build clearer boundaries, and move forward with more steadiness, confidence, and faith.
