You’re sick and tired of feeling small, being walked all over, and not being heard. You’ve spent so much of your life focusing on what others needed from you that now you’re not sure what you need. You’re actually not even sure who you are outside of the roles you’ve used to define yourself for so long. What you are sure of, though, is that you’re ready to do things differently—to go in a direction that will make you feel content with your choices, bring more balance into your life, and help you have better relationships with your friends and family. Changing your life through therapy might not be easy, but it will be worth it.

As a therapist I try to be a good listener as well as someone who helps to clarify and provide input. I have been trained in a variety of counseling approaches but find that having a caring attitude and listening ear is beneficial to my clients.

I believe that everyone has the ability within their self to reach their highest potential. I believe that past experiences or negative messages we have received can cause us to lose our way. I want to help people find their way to their highest potential. I am a very caring considerate person but I can also be very direct. If you are someone who is ready to work hard to be the best you, you can be then we will do well together.

Relationships are critical to how we navigate our lives - the relationships with our important people, the relationship we have with ourselves, and our relationship to God. The counseling experience is no different, and it should be a quality relationship that is built on trust and understanding. It can take a little time to develop the counseling connection, but it can be well worth the investment.

"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow." Helen Keller ~~~ I believe all individuals desire joy, hope and happiness and often get so caught up in the difficulties in life, they lose hope in finding these things in their lives again. If in some small way, I can restore hope which leads an another individual to joy and happiness in their lives, then His purpose has been fulfilled. Every person has a plan and purpose in their lives and my desire is to help them reconnect with their plan and purpose.

"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” C.S.Lewis It starts with having someone there to listen; to you and your story. I provide a safe space to talk about the things that are hardest to talk about. For an adult that could be the grief of a loved one, the depression or anxiety that holds you back daily, or a confusing relationship that needs untangling. For a child it could mean talking about something scary that happened, exploring feelings of wanting to hurt themselves, or learning to talk to others in a way that they feel understood. Start the journey to healing today.

My specialty is working with high-functioning or over-functioning women who struggle with relationship issues, perfectionism, anxiety, embarrassment, and guilty feelings. They fear that others are upset with them or do not like them. They often have stressful relationships with parents or romantic partners. They find themselves engaging in people-pleasing and codependency. I use "parts work" to help clients unpack what is going on in their bodies, gain self-understanding, and befriend their emotions and experiences.

Do you ever feel like people around you have something special that you lack? Perhaps you tend to keep people at a distance so they won’t see your flaws. Or maybe you notice you prioritize everyone else’s feelings, while not listening enough to yours? Over time, you’ve noticed a pattern of minimizing your own needs and carrying the belief that you have to face everything by yourself. If this feels true to you, you may be living in alignment with beliefs that no longer serve you. My hope is to help you engage in your story to live more authentic, empowered, & connected to yourself and others.

I have a passion for working with children, adults, and families to help build rapport and unconditional positive regard for all situations or needs they may have. Coming to therapy takes vulnerability and self motivation that I intend to encourage in each individual. This step forward will begin a journey to healing, self love, and acceptance. It is a true privilege that I get to walk beside each client on their path to healing, no matter what that may look like for you.

I believe that humans were created with eternity in our hearts and we have a purpose in life. Sometimes life is harder rather than easier and we need help navigating anxious waters or traveling depressing paths alone. At times, hope seems to leave us and we struggle to find it amidst the business of life or the circumstances that befall us. Perhaps you see yourself in this description. It is part of our condition to desire happiness and peace in our lives. Said another way, that is a normal thought. We want to experience the power of restored hope in our day to day walk.

My passion is working with children and their families. Children possess an incredible strength. Their resilience, adaptability, and innate ability to bounce back from adversity never cease to amaze me. However, I also recognize that even the strongest children need support in processing life events—especially when they are faced with challenges that they don’t yet have the words or tools to fully understand. I whole heartedly believe early intervention can help children develop healthy coping and communication skills. By addressing challenges early, children build strong emotional skills for long-term well-being.

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
