Good therapy helps promote clarity and progress toward change. I believe that therapy can provide the safety needed for self-exploration and for support in times of stress. And I believe that this safety is created through a trusting therapeutic alliance, which I rely heavily on in my practice. As a clinical social worker, I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults who have a broad range of reasons for seeking therapy - these may include anxiety, depression, family conflict, low self-esteem, relationship struggles, parenting concerns, trauma, and loss.
Throughout my career, I have provided therapy in several different settings - private practice, an urban hospital, community health centers, as well as public/private schools. I have formal training in a variety of therapeutic techniques - including psychoanalytic psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR, mindfulness, play therapy, and Circle of Security Parenting.
My approach is anchored in warmth and curiosity and is tailored to meet each client's individual needs. I am invested in cultivating relationships and working together with clients throughout the treatment process. I routinely offer a free phone consultation, so please contact me with questions or visit my website www.juliabcoffin.com for more information.

Circle of Security Parenting
Children don't come with an instruction manual, but Circle of Security Parenting offers a framework for parents to better identify and meet their child's needs. It offers parents relationship tools to support their child as he or she is learning to manage their emotions, and it enhances their child's self-esteem.
