I work primarily with men, teens, and parents of teens. Each client is unique, therefore my approach is individualized for each client. I view issues through the lens of trauma (any event that changes the way you perceive yourself or the world around you). People are resilient and adapt, but often form maladaptive coping strategies in efforts to meet real and legitimate needs. A part of the counseling process is identifying the barriers that are keeping you stuck in order to move forward in a healthier way. I look forward to talking with you as you begin your journey! I provide free 20-30 minute phone consultations.

Talk therapy is not enough. My approach to therapy focuses on combining cognitive and somatic therapies to strengthen connection to self, and reduce the blocks to healing. The goal is to connect to your authenticity, and have the freedom to find positive and affirming ways to enjoy relationships with self and others. The goal is to experience life without shutting down or disconnecting, and/or using destructive behaviors to reduce pain and distress. Attaining the freedom to choose what you want for yourself, begins with taking the first step.

Reaching out for support can be hard. I’m so grateful you’ve found your way here. No matter the age, I believe we are all working to navigate the world the best way we know how. Often, in the midst of that journey, we reach a point where we need help along the way. As a therapist, I consider it an honor to come alongside individuals and families on their healing journey.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health concern in America. Over 40 million adults in the U.S. have an anxiety disorder. That is almost 1 in 5 people. Over the past several years, the problem has only been exasperated by the COVID pandemic and the ongoing political tensions. The good news is that anxiety disorders are treatable, and recovery is achievable and sustainable. We will help you identify and examine the types of thinking and fearful self-talk that continue to fuel your unhealthy and extremely unpleasant anxiety. I am here to help, not judge you. Give me a call and let's start discussing some solutions.

Do you feel alone when dealing with adversity? Handling challenges independently is admirable, but sustaining that level of self-reliance is exhausting. You don’t have to do it on your own, and I can assist. Seeking help is a courageous choice, especially when you are used to doing things yourself. It may feel awkward at first, but you deserve to be heard. I can help you work through past trauma, trust others more, and increase your wellbeing. I will provide a space where you can share any concerns you have—even uncomfortable ones. Don't worry; safety, connection, and confidentiality are my top priorities.

My name is Tori Rogers. I am passionate about helping people move through pain, find empowerment, regulate their nervous systems, and connect to themselves in a more meaningful way. I believe, at times, we all feel like strangers to ourselves. I believe we are already whole and can feel shattered at the same time. I believe that the antidote to shame is self love. I believe that there is no better vehicle to connection to oneself than the natural world. I believe in chasing dreams. I believe that tapping into one’s intuition is the key to empowerment. I believe in holistic healing (which occurs mostly OUTSIDE of the therapy office).

Arts and Hearts Therapy is a creative approach to your child's needs. Is your child currently struggling to manage their big feelings? Are they finding it overwhelming and challenging to navigate their relationships with family and friends, establish a positive self-image, or manage their academic responsibilities alongside extra-curricular activities? Would you like some guidance and support around boundary setting, positive discipline practices, and authentic communication with your child? I've worked with children in academic settings since 2006. Various components of Early Childhood Education play a big role in my practice.

My favorite quote from James Baldwin hangs in my office – “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” I absolutely believe we can change and be better, and my role as your therapist is to help you lean into that potential. My career has focused on learning as much as I can about trauma, stress, and adversity, which means I have a background in social work, developmental psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, and family systems. This background helps me see the "whole person" - all the reasons why you are who you are - and allows for space to create meaningful change in your life.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 37065?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
