People come into therapy for multiple reasons. It could be an issue with coping when something bad happens or feeling anxious or depressed or having interpersonal difficulties. I understand how painful emotional problems can be, and how they can interfere with everyday life. I believe in understanding what’s going on in the present and then building skills to deal with the future. Coping and overcoming pain and building skills are the best ways to actualize this future you. I am a full professor in the clinical psychology doctoral program at Hofstra. I am trained in CBT and have been able to help people with treatments that work.

I help adults recover from a variety of mental health conditions and stressors in order to pursue a sense of purpose and meaningful relationships, as well as interests through talk therapy and evidence-based treatments. While some clients have been prescribed medication to help, human beings are comprised of a complex array of thoughts, feelings, and perceptions that often get overlooked when focusing on a medication only approach to treatment. At Vitamin P Therapy, I believe in treating the whole person and fueling the body and mind with additional ‘vitamins’ that are essential for optimal growth and functioning.

I believe that many emotional problems people experience stem from the accumulation of previously well intentioned but flawed solutions for every day difficulties. These solutions often create secondary dysfunctional issues which aggravate the original problem. This vicious cycle is particularly relevant to relationships. Unreasonable expectations of oneself and others combined with inappropriate behavior in certain situations contribute to the downward spiral. Using evidence based strategies, I coach clients to make the appropriate attitudinal, emotional and behavioral changes necessary which can result in creative and workable solutions to their difficulties resulting in lasting emotional growth and greater satisfaction with their lives.

You're intuitive, self-aware, and maybe even in therapy before- but still feel stuck in anxiety, overwhelm, or old emotional patterns. You might be tired of just talking about your problems or trying out new tools and want real change. You're craving deeper healing, not just coping- something that helps you feel safe in your body, more connected to yourself, and free from the past. You want clarity, peace, and a way forward that feels grounded and lasting.

Hi and thanks for taking a look at my profile. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, especially since most of us are doing so during a time of stress or crisis. My approach to therapy is very relational and experiential. I believe that healing and transformation can happen only in the context of a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. It's a huge step to reach out to a therapist for help. I hope I can make it as easy as possible for you and look forward to talking further to see if we're a good therapy match.
