As human beings, we are hard-wired to be securely connected in relationship. We are happier and even live longer lives. At the same time, we are hard-wired to protect ourselves which can create a lot of conflict in relationship with others and with our authenticate self.

It has been said that the only recovery for any addiction is a spiritual recovery. Are you open to further explore your life, choices, relationships, recovery and spirituality and add another dimension to your life? Hopefully so. Are you perhaps unable or unwilling to make the necessary changes and be more present in your life, to navigate the challenges, transitions, losses.......... If any of these resonates with you, it is probably time to take a closer look. I really feel honored when I have the opportunity to sit with such individual!

When I was in therapy struggling with depression and anxiety and thoughts of “I’m not good enough,“ my wise therapist referred me to a clinician who specialized in EMDR therapy. In a matter of weeks, the therapy rocked my world, giving me a life-altering perspective that changed my entire existence for the better. I immediately decided to enrich my therapist tool box by taking the intense training to become an Emdria-approved EMDR therapist. As a result, I help my clients experience radical, positive change in a matter of weeks or a few short months. I am blessed to witness my clients’ personal transformations.

Peace. Happiness. Love. Success. We seek them. We want them. As we see them within reach, we are knocked down by the challenges and difficulties of life. We find, instead, lives that are filled with anxiety, sadness, grief, trauma, loss and failure. I know this too well. I have experienced this in my own life and in the life of my clients. It does not matter where you are in your life. I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds to help them navigate the troubled waters of life.

It is my belief that everyone can and should benefit from therapy; whether suffering from severe mental illness or simply looking for a road map. Truly knowing oneself is an integral part of the lifelong journey toward self actualization. Unfortunately, stigma discourages many from taking advantage of our profession.

Despite the serious nature of issues discussed, my clients and I often find ourselves laughing together. I specialize in treatment/ assessment of psychological disorders in preschool/ school-aged children, adolescents, and adults. People come to therapy because they want to feel better. Frequently relationship problems or anxiety/depression cause too much pain. Sometimes there are difficult situations to deal with. People frequently discover they are "excessively" hard and critical of themselves. Reducing this has an profound positive effect. My approach leads to gaining a realistic perspective and reducing hidden self-defeating patterns and unrecognized chronic guilt and shame. My clients say that they enjoy more quality in their relationships as a result of therapy. Regardless of the reason, making life work and experiencing less discomfort is the goal.

It's so hard to be you isn't it? Being in a relationship and not feeling heard. Your needs not getting met. You're questioning if you should stay or leave. You've tried communicating in every way you can think of or not communicating and letting things "slide", but nothing changes. The frustration and resentment just builds. Before you make the decision to leave or decide to just sweep it under the rug and continue to be in pain, let me work with both of you.

How can I find a therapist in 33309?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
