Significant life changes can leave us with more questions and uncertainty. Moving to a new city, a divorce, a change in a family member's life, new school, job changes, losing a loved one, or uncertainty in relationships with family or friends are all challenging situations. All change has an element of grief and loneliness to it, regardless of whether the change is positive or not. Together, we can make sense of the chaos and find your balance and clarity. I help individuals grieve what was and confidently heal as they move forward in their lives.

Effective therapy, in my view, moves forward only when you, the patient, do not feel judged, talked down to or told what to do. It is only in this atmosphere of mutual respect and regard that you will surface and examine your issues in ways that give you insight to the "why's" of the choices you've made in the past, your responses to life's events, and options you might choose in the future. There are many different methods I may use depending on what seems most promising given your goals for therapy.

You don't care how much I know if you don't know I care! Why choose me as your counselor? Two main reasons: experience and education. First, my life experiences may be similar to your own. I have worked in many types of industries: manufacturing, insurance, banking, IT, education, and more. I have been a factory worker, a clerk, teller, programmer and held positions from supervisor to Assistant VP. My experience allows me to bring many unique perspectives to better understand you. Even as a youth, people used me as their therapist, sharing with me their problems and secrets. I have two years of supervised counseling experience.

The best gift you can give yourself and your loved ones is your own healing. At some point, we all are challenged by psychological stress and overwhelming life events. A lack of support, unhealed trauma, or emotional wounds can bring on strong feelings of anger, irritability, anxiety, depression, or mood swings. It may seem difficult to reach out for help, but counseling and therapy can play a beneficial role by providing insight and self-awareness. At Thriving Minds, you will get professional and personalized care for successful long-term recovery.

"Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity." -Pema Chodron. From this place of compassion, I embrace a collaborative approach in therapy to help you address current life challenges, explore lifelong patterns, and/or develop areas for personal growth. I see adolescents and adults.

Complex PTSD symptoms include emotional flashbacks (constant fight/flight/freeze triggers), a tyrannical inner critic, toxic shame, self abandonment, social anxiety, and relationship issues. This distressing experience can feel isolating and confusing, and like there is something wrong with you. The good news is there isn't - the human nervous system is intelligent and doing its best to protect us. We can learn to soften, self-soothe and communicate more deeply with our innermost self with somatic therapy. I also support with psychedelic integration, sexual awakening and am certified in yoga, breathwork, and nondual somatic inquiry.

How can I find a therapist in 32224?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
